Yes.
The doctrine of the Holy Trinity in which the one true God is made up of three separate but equal persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
This belief is shared by most Christian denominations including Roman and Orthodox Catholics, Lutherans, Anglicans, Baptists, Methodists, Presbyterians, Pentecostals and Episcopalians.
Jesus, God the Son, was praying to God the Father.
How this works is not fully known and is one the Christian mysteries.
There is a story told about St Augustine:
Augustine was walking along the seashore trying to figure out the mystery of the Holy Trinity and came up to a little boy. The boy was trying to pour the ocean into a hole in the sand with a seashell. Augustine told the boy what he was doing was impossible. Then the little boy told Augustine that it is also impossible for the mind of man to try to understand the mystery of the Holy Trinity. The little boy turned into an angel and disappeared.
With love in Christ.

Jesus and God are not the same entity.
Thats why when you pray you say Father Son and Holy Ghost.

This is a complicated question and the reason that some people think that Christians believe in multiple gods.
Although God the Father, the Holy Ghost, and Jesus are all one, people perceive them in different forms. When Jesus prayed he prayed to "His Father" who was part of Him but was also separate from Him.

His God & father who is greater then him (john 14:28) who jesus needed to "obey" in order to get his reward (hebrews 5:8) his father who was the head of him like he is the head of the christian congregation (1 corinthians 11:3) And his God when he says at John 20: 17 “Don’t cling to me,” Jesus said, “for I haven’t yet ascended to the Father. But go find my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”
And for the final Revelations 3:12 (after he was in Heaven by the way) "All who are victorious will become pillars in the Temple of my God, and they will never have to leave it. And I will write on them the name of my God, and they will be citizens in the city of my God—the new Jerusalem that comes down from heaven from my God. And I will also write on them my new name"
Ironic how after he was in Heaven he still has a God...who is that?
So he was praying to God...just FYI there are 378 verses in the NT of the bible that directly contradict that Jesus, God and the Holy spirit are one and the same...378!!!
One reference book is The Doctrine of the Trinity: Christianity's Self-Inflicted Wound by by Sir Anthony Buzzard and Charles F. Hunting
And you can go watchtower.org and look at the Should You Believe in the Trinity?
If you believe the JW's or not they make a Great case against the trinity....

Some of these answers are hilarious. It is sad that people would really think that, if Jesus is God, that he would pray to himself. THEE all powerful creator!!!! You mean to tell me that he needs to consult with himself about what he wants to accomplish by himself. I'm confused just trying to type that out. Jesus is God's Son, Jehovah is God and the Holy Spirit is God's active force. REV 4:11!!!! By the way, if Jesus is God, did he resurrect himself??? It just doesnt make sense!!!

If Jesus were God, I would say that He was praying for the benefit of His disciples, setting the perfect example of perfect prayer. However, the bible is clear that Jesus often prayed alone. If Jesus were truly God, this would not be necessary.
Therefore, Jesus could not have been God. Jesus was a representative of God. This means that Jesus was perfectly qualified, and endowed with the authority of God. Such a representative is worshipable because seeing them is as good as seeing God. He was given all of the authority of God. This is important, because it means that He had the power to forgive sins and condemn people, and had the power to do what no other human can do, raise someone from the dead. Jesus had no personal agenda. Every word out of His mouth was consistent with the words of God Himself, and every action He took was consistent with the actions of God Himself. This was the extraordinary perfection of Jesus Christ.
Many people confuse Jesus' words, "I and my Father are one", to mean that Jesus is God. This is not consistent with His teachings. Suppose you have two children, and you leave, putting the eldest in charge. You have endowed that child with your authority. If you say, "Bedtime is 8 o'clock", and your eldest says, "Bedtime is 8 o'clock", what is the difference between your authority and your eldest child? In this sense, obedience to your eldest is the same as obedience to you. Your eldest is your authorized representative, and your youngest should obey him AS IF he were obeying you. You may give the eldest the power and authority to operate the stove, make decisions, etc., but he understands that he is NOT you. He is acting on your behalf.

He prayed To God, a separate entity from Jesus. I do not think Jesus ever truly claims to be God. God designated Jesus as the way to heaven, I also know that Jesus is seated at the right, if so then who is seated at the center? Why would Jesus forsake himself as he stated "Father why have you forsaken me?" I think because Jesus was the way to heaven he is often considered God but in my opinion there is more evidence in the Bible that supports him as merely the son of God and a separate entity.

Since Jesus is God the Son, then Jesus was praying to God the Father like we all do. I pray to God the Father in Jesus' name, but I'm very thankful that the Holy Spirit helps my prayers with groanings which are thoroughly understood by God the Father and God the Son. I forget sometime to thank God the Father and God the Son for the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit teaches me all things and brings Scripture to my remembrance.

He was praying to His Father. Remember there is a thing called the Trinity...God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit....
When Jesus was on Earth He prayed to His Heavenly Father.
When He left earth, He sent to us the Holy Spirit....
