I'm a Christian and I never read the bible. The only thing I need to live my life are the ten commandments. That's it. The bible has been written and re-written and translated so many times, that a lot of it just doesn't add up. So not all christians accept it - I don't. I also don't believe you have to go to a place of worship to be with God. If you love him, anywhere you feel good can be your church, like when I'm in a park surronded by his creations of flowers, trees, animals, etc, I feel closer to him than I've ever felt in a church.

1: nowhere are Christmas trees mentioned in the Bible. they're simply a nice tradition.
2: everyone knows that new life is associated with spring. if you don't believe me, check out your local park sometime next May.
3: what's your point about the harvest fest, anyway? wouldn't you celebrate if you had all your crops in, plenty of food, and your future was secure?
4: you can kill in the name of anything you want, even (for example) Hello Kitty. people take God's name in vain all the time, and this includes killing under the false pretense of following Him.
5: it wasn't 3000 or 2000 people being fed, it was 5000 and 4000. the numbers of loaves and fishes and baskets of leftovers are different, too. this doesn't seem like a contradiction to me-- it suggests that maybe He simply fed large crowds of people more than once.
6: God is perfect. He is also 'jealous' in that He wants you to love Him with your whole heart, because only then will you be truly joyful and at peace. and because He loves you, He wants you to be truly, eternally happy with Him in Heaven.
7: ummm... the Bible wasn't created by Constantine, and anyway, what would he have to gain from it? it would be much easier to just stick with the pagan Roman religion, and also more profitable because it taught that the emperor (which was Constantine at that point) was a god.
to answer your actual question: people believe the Bible because it's just about the most accurate historical document still around from ancient times, and also because we believe it is the inspired word of God. and God is someone you definitely want to listen to.
have a nice day and God bless you.

well, how can you believe text books that have been written long ago? don't you think that some historians picked and chose what to keep a record of as well...the thing is somethings were lost..or things haven't been revealed to us yet. and there are so many things that bear witness to what happened in the bible. the Book of Mormon (which was mentioned in the Bible) bears witness with the bible, and then there are legends and such that also tell of the things in bible...I'm glad you believe in God and Jesus..if you have questions about the Bible because you don't understand ask around and try to find the answer..pray and ask God what it means (diligently and with a open mind and heart)...He'll tell you and He will make sure you find it out...The Bible was somewhat created for personal gain..but in a spiritual sense. it's a record to help build our testimonies of God and Jesus. If you have any questions you can email me or something.

The Bible was rewritten several times and much got lost in translations of the old book. It also was written by a certain group of people who used it to control the lives of its followers. 12 books were left out of the new Bible and used to be in the Catholic one but not read during mass because of so many missing pieces that were removed to hide some stories that remove the power from the priesthood. Like go in a closet to talk to God < look within to hear gods word>, And Let no man be called father except thy father in heaven. Kinds of put the Catholics on a rock doesn't it.

In answer on your first question, as a results of fact people have faith them to be genuine, and a few, like the Bible, are a minimum of in part subsidized up via independant aspects. The pig being unclean (Leviticus 11:7) got here long in the previous the devil or devil (job a million:6, earliest reference i'd desire to stumble on) grew to become into even stated interior the Bible. The depiction of the devil as having cloven hooves isn't unquestionably got here across interior the Bible so a methods as i'm conscious. considering that devil, (previously everyday as Lucifer) is defined as a "fallen angel" does no longer he look like an angel?

It is one of the best Fiction books ever written. The validity of it is unfounded. So you can take and use it how you want in your belief system. But that is like any other religious writings. It is all about your faith not what is necessarily real! For all that say that it isn't fiction you need to look at reality a little closer! I also ask that anyone that has proof please tell me how you came by it because last time I checked there are no living people who were around when it was put together!

I am on board with you. I haven't followed the bible for years now. I never did, really. So much of this book has been altered, chapters omitted, and all to keep us in a state of fear and confusion. And to control us, mainly, and to establish a unified church. Constantine was a stinker, but there were others, too. I mean, they couldn't have those crazy nature Gnostics running amuck now, could they. Isn't it refreshing that the New Agers (Old Gnostics) have resurrected the fairies and nature beings, and the alternative healers are reclaiming their God-given powers, and we all feel freer to talk with our Creator directly without the permission or through a priest of the church and we can grant ourselves forgiveness and be okay with that and not have to go through that string of beads and say phrases over and over and over again to get right with God? I love how our Spirituality is evolving for each of us and I especially love when we can honor each and every way......especially those who find the bible their refuge and their safe haven. There is a place for all of us.

No I don't follow the bible without question. In fact I used to have discussions with priests and reverends etc.
There are parts (old testament) that were written earlier than the rest.
Constantine did not create the bible. It was at the Council of Nicaea that the Bishops made the decisions with regards to what books to include and exclude from the bible.
So don't blame the emperor. Just like everyone blames Pilot for Jesus's death. It was the people who made the demand, he just carried out their wish.

I wouldn't believe it anyway, but I find it interesting that in some places it's presented a lot like a reality tv show where there are cameras everywhere.
For example, on the night when he's taken by the soldiers, we're told what Jesus was doing on Gethsemane. But we're also told that the disciples fell asleep while he was doing it. So, who was there to see what was happening? Who was the witness to Judas taking thirty pieces of silver, then taking it back? Likewise when Jesus's taken before Pilate, the disciples weren't there with him. Who told anyone exactly what was said and done there? etc. etc.
And, please, don't tell me that god transmitted the information to the writers, whoever they were. If he had, all the gospels would agree on everything and there wouldn't be more than one of them anyway.

Some of that stuff you're talking about isn't even in the bible. It is what religions have made up to serve whatever purpose they were trying to serve with it. What is actually in the bible are personal accounts from various people BC and AD.
Goodness, I don't know about most believers but I wonder why people like you bother. You have to find God for yourself. I have faith in his word because God proves himself not some man in some religion or not, but God. If that isn't happening for you, maybe your faith isn't really faith at all because no one can give that to you. Science, logic and reasoning can not explain the supernatural no more than it has any power to stop it. Hense, why the same arguments no more can stop the Word today then it could 1000 years ago.
The only thing I could admonish you to do is go deeper.
I first followed the Word of God with question, but those questions are resolved and I trust, believe in, and stand by the Word of God with all of me. Who cares what something seems to someone who does not believe because they have no experience and thus no faith.
