Your mom's right. Holy Matrimony is a sacrament one can only receive once. This is because the marital bond is eternal.
A divorce is a mere legal proceeding. While a divorce is binding according to political law, it has no meaning in terms of the spirit.
If a married couple gets divorced, and both go off in search of new significant others, they will be living in sin because their marital bond still exists in the eyes of God.
The estranged spouses, even if they're legally divorced, will be "cheating" on each other in the eyes of God.

The Catholic Church believes that God does not recognize civil divorces.
Jesus said, "Therefore what God has joined together, no human being must separate." (Mark 10:9)
However there may be hope of a declaration of nullity.
The term "annulment" is a misnomer because the Church does not undo or erase a marriage bond.
Rather the Church issues a declaration of nullity when it discovers that the parties were not truly joined by God and hence a full spiritual sacramental marriage as understood by the Church was not present.
Then the parties are free to marry for the first time.
With love in Christ.

This is true, except for annulment or if either spouse has committed adultery.I think this is just wrong as there are situations, abuse, drugs, pornography.I think God is above the church laws,I have been divorced, very painful, but I had no choice my husband was a minister who was a heroin addict when he was a young man.We had a child when he turned 40,she has a severe disability,he out of deep pain picked up on heroin again.I loved him so,but could not subject my children to this.I separated for a year and prayed for him to get into some good recovery. He only got worse,so I had to divorce,I had peace. From God not others. Its about how God sees your situation, not the church,God never rejects us when such a painful situation occurs that no other person has to deal with but you.Let God be fully part of your marriage, and even if this is true you never know what can happen.Love and marriage is a risk, you give your heart and it will either get broken,or cared for.Good luck and God bless you

you can only get married once unless you get an annulment from the church which makes it like you were never married before. as far as it being a sin technically yes it is but that is a personal choice you would have to give weight to

It's not a sin to get divorced. It depends on what happened so you need to talk to a priest. Sometimes the marriage wasn't valid to start with because one of the partners did not take into all conditions seriously or they misrepresented themself to the extent that the marriage can be annulled. Talk to a priest. It can be handles. Jesus did not mean for people to stay away from him but please speak to a priest first.

It is a sin to get divorced.
I'm not a Catholic or anything so I'm not sure about the rest of that but, I am a Christian.
The Bible says that you can only divorce your husband if he is having sexual relations with another women.
I think it's the same for men too though.....
But you can also repent so you don't have to.

On paper that's true. But go to the back entrance and pay the priest and the deal is clinched.
I know someone who did it.
