for example in Islam, prophet Muhammad can not mix his words with God words (the Quran). so God words has been collected in a book called "Quran", while the words of prophet Muhammad collected in a book called "Hadith" if you compare the two books you find alot of difference. However, with the Bible the words of God got mixed with the words of Jesus got mixed with the words of the preacher and priest. and that what cause the confusion.

My daughter is about to turn four and she is having a party. I do not like Barbie Dolls and prefer for her not to have them. All of the family knows my preference, but some of her friends parents do not. Would it be rude to write on the invitation "No Barbies Please". I know that I would not be offended if I received a similar note on an invitation, but wanted some other parents opinions. I don't want to be rude or offensive on the invitation.

Theists say things like this:

"By faith Christians understand that God created the world. We understand that it is not a result of random chaos. We understand this because God has said it in His word. Some scientists appeal to their own hypothesis of creation and reject God's word. But Christians appeal to God's word rejecting scientific hypothesis which stand in opposition to God and His word."

My question is: What makes you prefer faith? What makes you think faith is valid? Also, in what way is faith different from wishful thinking, e.g. having faith that your lottery numbers will come up soon, even though there is no connection between what you wish were true and what will actually happen?

Note: I'm not asking for answers like "because it says so in the Bible" but rather "I believe what it says in the Bible *because*..."

In America there are so many minority celebrations now that it seems people have forgotten what it's like to be part of the majority.

Just a quick question for the actively practicing religious people out there. I'm wondering how much sexual contact you are allowed before marriage. Is oral sex permitted, how about mutual masturbation, for instance is a religious woman allowed to touch a mans penis before marriage?

How about after marriage what is permissible then?

I'm asking this because some of my friends are christian and catholic and they find it uncomfortable when I bring up this topic with them. Also I have looked around and can't seem to find a definitive list anywhere on the internet. I know many people will tell me that it is up to the individual, but what is the collective view of the church.

Brief explanation..... It's a neighbor of ours. Their daughter graduated high school. Our son and their son as well as their daughter have hung out for 5+ years. We do talk to the parents. On a rare occasion we'll have a drink together at their house or ours. We aren't close, just neighborly. We have been invited to their daughters high school graduation party. We can't make it, but would like to drop off a card and gift. Do I just put cash in the card? What is the appropriate amount? Do I buy her something? Get a gift card for Target or something like that?

okay, im not going to lie, i am a very attractive young woman, and i usually get a lot og attention from the guys. in my dream i had on a killer dress and i thot i was luking pretty. If God has created existence then it must be so that he is separate from existence. If separate from existence then he must dwell in the realm of non-existence. If inhabiting the realm of non-existence then he himself must be non-existent.
If we cannot have existence or purpose without a higher being then God cannot have existence or purpose as he himself has no higher being. If he does indeed have a higher being then that higher being must have another higher being to give it existence and purpose and so on to infinity, which is impractical and highly improbable.
