Stars are mentioned throughout the Bible and a planet is a a star if it is visible at night from the Earth.
star(stär)
n.
1.
a. A self-luminous celestial body consisting of a mass of gas held together by its own gravity in which the energy generated by nuclear reactions in the interior is balanced by the outflow of energy to the surface, and the inward-directed gravitational forces are balanced by the outward-directed gas and radiation pressures.
b. Any of the celestial bodies visible at night from Earth as relatively stationary, usually twinkling points of light.
c. Something regarded as resembling such a celestial body.
I think you are trying to redefine the word star to fit in with your philosophy. What you aren't understanding is that the writers of the Bible did not have the benefit of a finite seperation of celestial bodies. Language provides us a later explanation and seperation of gaseous and solid celestial bodies into the terms, planet and star. Back then, if you saw it in the sky at night it was a star regardless of its physical makeup.
The Bible was written for men and these men understood only so much about the physical realm in which they lived. Why would God go into a hard study of planetary science with a people that didn't even understand the Earth was round?

Not mentioning planets is really the LEAST of the Bible's ridiculous idiosyncrasies. According to the book of Isaiah, the Sun can actually feel ashamed and the Moon can be confounded.
Isaiah 24:23 Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the LORD of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously.
Obviously, anyone who interprets the Bible as literal and infallible has got a few screws loose.

The Bible is actually unaware of three of the six planets which were known to most of the ancient world (Saturn, Jupiter, and Mercury are nowhere referenced in the Old Testament). Faith is the only thing that stops Wwjd from discovering just how wrong he is. But then, what else is faith good for?

"is it ridiculous to attribute the existence of those planets to the Biblical Gd, when he obviously thought they were stars."
well....it's ridiculous to think that a question about whether the Bible mentions planets, denies God creating the whole universe. It's a flimsy question, using semantics, to try to question God's creation!!
Whether they were in Bible times, called planets or stars, is inconsequental....
If God didn't create the planets or stars....tell me who did???
Remember also that the Bible was written by men, inspired by God, BUT some 6000 years ago. What do you think they knew about the galaxies and all that we've learned since then? Did they have the modern technol.ogy that is used today?

Stars and star systems are mentioned. But since they had no telescopes to see the planets, only what could be seen (such as the moon) such as the Pleides,Arcturus and and Orion are mentioned.Since there is no life on our 9 (or 8 ,your choice) planets except Earth, What to say?He doesn't mention asteroids, comets, solar flares etc. God keeps it in the realm of what man could handle at the time.
God keeps it simple for us,and we anthropomorphise God and the created spirit beings.

Psalm 19:1[kjv]The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.
JESUS loves you.Have u recieved JESUS for the forgiveness of your sins?
John 3:16[kjv] For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
so when we believe in JESUS we have eternal life.JESUS lived a sinless life and gave up his life as a sacrifice so we can be sin free. Ask JESUS to come into your heart and forgive ur sins and cleanse ur past with the blood JESUS shed on the cross.
With a simple prayer like above u can be saved.JESUS loves u and wants u to be saved.

Can we go to any of them? Can we effect them at all? No! So why mention them? What difference would it have made?
He did create them but made the earth for us or us for the earth. We have enough to worry about with our planet.
The Bible does tell us about the earth being a planet. That it was round and hung on nothing. (Isaiah 40:22; Job 26:7)

the existence of other planets seems to confirm that either god made a lot of mistakes to get us right, or we are a mistake too.
or that god didnt create the universe.
there is a quote that if god didnt exist it would be necessary to invent him.
Human nature needs someone to excuse them from themselves. No one is prepared to go it alone and actually grow up into the person THEY are, not defined by something else.

God knows where every planet is at, You try to come on here thinking you know something when you don't really know anything. Genesis states That God created all the heavens & earth & he also created the stars, & anything in between. Sorry your ideals don't add up, Oh yes, I could give you many more scriptures but I won't, Just Read Gen. 1:14-19, You can also read Psalm 136:5-9 & also Ps. 8:3 & JOB 38:1-10

The Bible was written over 2000 years ago by people who thought the earth was flat and a few hundred miles across. They thought the sky was solid with lights embedded in it, that heaven was above the sky and that hell was below the surface of the earth.
There are so many things in the Bible that are not mentioned or that are scientifically untrue -- no bacteria, no understanding of disease, of weather, of earthquakes, of evolution, of geology, etc.
