Religious people just assume that if you are a good person, you can't possibly not believe in God?

Yesterday I was buying a coffee. There was a mix up behind the counter and I could have walked away without paying for the coffee, and no one would have known. Instead, I pointed out the oversight and paid for the coffee. Later I got into a conversation with my Christian friend about the incident. She stated that there is no way that I could not believe in God, because I still have morals. WTF???

I'd've just chalked it up to just her, but it happens a fair bit. Do religious people generally think that it is impossible to do something good without 'the power of God' working in your life? Thoughts?

Christians, why don't you believe in the Greek gods (Apollo, Zeus, etc.)? That is, why have you selected your particular faith over this other pagan faith?

Some of the non-beleavers here are very respectful, and other...well not so much. I'm far from a Christian but I make sure I don't bash Christians for what they beleave.
Most Christians are very nice people if you get to know them.
What I wanna know is, why are some of you so quick to judge every single Christian and group them together as one person?



This question is not at all directed to ALL non-beleavers.
I'm not saying that all Christians are great people and don't puch their oppinion on you.

It seems that this god or no god business has no end. Its basically two sides arguing a point and neither one will give any leeway. So I was thinking that instead of trying to disprove god, why not just convince theists that it does not matter whether god exists or not. You know first hand that you do not have to believe in god in order to take responsibility for your actions, and therefore you do not need to believe in god to be a good person. So why is god necessary? Just a thought.
