Christians, why don't you believe in the Greek gods (Apollo, Zeus, etc.)? That is, why have you selected your particular faith over this other pagan faith?

Someone said this is a stupid question. How so? By what criterion do you distinguish one religion from another?

The Greek Pantheon, theologically, was an attempt explain the seeming disorder of the natural world.

Christianity, again theologically, is an attempt to explain man's seeming separation from the Divine.

Each has a completely different raison d'etre.

Furthermore, Christianity was started by one man, Jesus, who claimed to be the Son of the Living God. He did not claim that he was a philosopher who sought to improve the world.

That claim, of being the Son of God, leaves anyone who hears His message to make one of three logical choices: Jesus was insane and had delusions of grandeur, Jesus was a fraud, or Jesus was exactly what He said He was. (Other illogical choices remain, such as claiming he was a philosopher or teacher of great importance, but that just doesn't make sense considering what he taught.)

All Christians assume that the third is true. If Jesus was the Son of God, then there exists no place for Zeus, Ra, Dionysius, or any other pagan deity.

This is why Christans don't believe in them. They believe Jesus was everything he said he was.

I guess the real question is do you believe that the Greek gods of Olympus are real?

Lets talk about this logically for a moment. The Greek gods of Olympus were said to live on Olympus, right? So why is it that they are not atop that mountain? There is many other reason to go on but honestly do I need to go on.

Here's the reason we don't believe that they are the true "gods"

God is the Alpha and Omega the beginning and the end. As it says in Genesis, one of the ten commandments says
"You shall have no other gods before Me." I think that would qualify as the reason we don't believe in those false gods.

There is only one God there will only ever be Him. He sent His Son to die for us so we can get to heaven. In John 14:4 Jesus says, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." He goes on to say that the apostles have seen the Father "I am in the Father and the Father is in Me."

Jesus was here! He died for you and for everyone else in the world. He loved us and knew us before we were even born. All you have to do is ask Him to come into your heart and repent of your sins. Praise God!

Think about it. If you have anymore questions feel free to ask me.

You have an interesting question. I think I chose Christianity because God pursued me and not the other way around. Most religions are humans trying to reach God but the Bible says God reached down to me and wants me to be with Him forever. He loved me even before I knew him. No other deity Greek Norse Roman Asian has been so proactive in assuring my salvation. That means something to me. He has walked with me through good and bad times. He is not capricious or moody, He is the same yesterday today and tomorrow. I have a peace that it is right.

....CHRISTians. -_- sorry, but this is a stupid question; I'm not even Christian and I'm annoyed.
*Edit* I say it is a stupid question because the name of the religion speaks for itself. The very concept of the religion is based on a single man whom they believe to be the Son of God. Where does Greek Gods come into something that derived from Judaism??

I believe in the BIBLE, because it has been proven in history to be accurate. I also believe because I have been Born again, that is to say that my knowlege of spiritual things is directly influenced by GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT. I do not try to disrespect others belief system , though my comments here could be thought as that. I guess we choose to believe what we want to.. mine is BIBLE BASED

Honestly,
Christ came and died on the cross for my sins. He showed His everlasting love by giving His life for me. The bled on a cross, was beaten, spat on and mocked, all for me. There is no other person in history to make this demonstration of love. So why pick anyone else?
