Why don't more atheists and theists on Yahoo R/S share their BELIEFS rather than attacking others? Reading through the questions this section would probably be more appropriately labeled Hate Mongering. I would love to hear more about peoples beliefs and how they personally practice them but this whole section is filled with hate. Why all the mudslinging?

My friend owes me money but I don't know how to politely remind her. It's just a small sum, but I won't be seeing her for a while so I need to remind her ASAP.

What is your contention regarding Embryonic Stem Cell research. Keep in mind that:

-Blastocytes, the undifferentiated embryonic cells that scientists would conduct research upon, aren't technically living beings (that's analogous to a seed being tantamount to a fully developed angiosperm).

-the Bush administration has denied public funding for ESCR, but doesn't altogether prohibit it.

-Methods have been devised to study stem cells without a) harming said embryo, or b) using embryos that had already died (atributed to natural causes, of course).

In music that is edited they still say damn. It is also not censored on TV. Beyonce, who says that she is Christian says it, and she doens't censor it in her music. I'm Christian and I also hear some other Christians saying damn...sometimes. Would saying it be considered cussing?

True Australian Ghost Story

This story happened a while ago in Brisbane, and even though it sounds like an Alfred Hitchcock tale, it's true. John Bradford, a Sydney University student, was on the side of the road hitch hiking on a very dark night and in the midst of a storm. The night was rolling on and no car went by.

The storm was so strong he could hardly see a few feet ahead of him. Suddenly he saw a car slowly coming towards him and stopped. John, desperate for shelter and without thinking about it, got in the car and closed the door, just to realize there was nobody behind the wheel and the engine wasn't on! The car started moving slowly. John looked at the road and saw a curve approaching. Scared, he started to pray, begging for his life.

Then, just before he hit the curve, a hand appeared through the window and turned the wheel. John, paralysed with terror, watched how the hand appeared every time they came to a curve. John saw the lights of a pub down the road so, gathering strength, jumped out of the car and ran to it. Wet and out of breath, he rushed inside and asked for two shots of tequila.

He then started telling everybody about the horrible experience he went through. A silence enveloped everybody when they realized he was crying and....wasn't drunk.

About 15 minutes later, two guys walked into the same pub. They were also wet and out of breath. Looking around and seeing John Bradford sobbing at the bar, one said to the other, "Look, Bruce.. there's the bloody idiot that got in the car while we were pushing it."

When Muslim men die and pass to Islamic Paradise (Heaven), they expect to enter a utopian dimension where wine, milk and honey flows, fruit-trees flourish and rivers gush forth with the purist water.

Here, they plan to be greeted by 72 young virgins of "perpetual freshness" (houris) who will lead them into palaces loaded with luxurious thrones surrounded by gold, silver and jewel plated furnishings.- a holy place where believers reclined on jeweled couches surrounded by the finest silks can experience unlimited erotic sexual pleasures.

Islamic scholar Yusuf Ali described the virgins as "the companionship of Beauty and Grace - one of the highest pleasures of life. In the higher life it takes a higher form...The pronoun in Arabic is in the feminine gender. It is made clear that these maidens for heavenly society will be of special creation,-of virginal purity, grace, and beauty, inspiring and inspired by love, with the question of time and age eliminated."

The virgins, according to another Islamic commentator are "creations of God, intelligent yet soulless and created to serve the believer who goes to Paradise. They are created for the purpose of serving the believer, and as such, they don't exactly have free will. They are described as pure, beautiful, dark eyed, lustrous, virgin, and more perfect than any human on earth. Imagine the woman of your dreams."

Quranic commentator Al-Suyuti (died 1505 ) explained more graphically that Muslim men in Paradise experience non-ending arousals and that ever time they have sex with one of the angelic maidens, they find her body reconstituted as "virgin."

"The sensation that you feel each time you make love is utterly delicious and out of this world and were you to experience it in this world you would faint," Al-Suyuti explained. " Each chosen one [Muslim] will marry seventy houris, besides the women he married on earth, and all (will be appetizing)."

Islam's Prophet Muhammad was heard saying about Islamic Heaven: 'The smallest reward for the people of paradise is an abode where there are 80,000 servants and 72 wives, over which stands a dome decorated with pearls, aquamarine, and ruby, as wide as the distance from Al-Jabiyyah [a Damascus suburb] to Sana'a [Yemen]."

To assure Muslim men that they will be able to fully enjoy their heavenly rewards, Muhammad said, "A man in paradise shall be given virility equal to that of one hundred men."

Why does God give me so much suffering even when I repented and try to follow him as a Christian. I have NO friends, and the friends I thought I had were befriending me merelly to use me for his/her advantage? I feel like absolute crap and want to die because that always happens to me. No one is actually a friend for who I am, not my talents. Why do some people like me suffer so much in the social realm while so many others are beloved by friends?

This is a question many young Gay and Homosexual men and boys, seem to be concerned with.

Especially, those who are in their teens, and still living with parents, siblings, relatives, and are being harrassed about their sexuality, sexual preferences, and sexual orientation!

Has anyone else had this experience or is it a rural thing?

word of god? Why or why not?

If you don't consider the apocrypha part of the "true canon," why not? The bible as we know it was compiled by on sect of Catholic Christians 1600 years ago, so is there any reason to think they were infallible?

And we now know that many of the books of the NT were not written by the authors they were presumed to have been written by...many of the epistles were known to be later forgeries, yet those books are still part of the accepted bible.

Please no snotty replies, I'm trying to understand your thinking.

Remember the episode where Butters was "bi-curious" and they sent him to some relgious camp. I'm not going to explain the whole thing but I never heard that word be used at all before that episode. Ever since it aired I hear the word bi-curious all of the time.

This was like a month and a half ago.
