Exactly. Sharing is the best part. If people would stop wasting their energy and time on attacks, they might just learn something, whether you agree or not. It's ok to disagree and still remain tactful and still share!!

My beliefs are
Each person should do ALL they can on any given day. Some days they can't do much, so they don't. Other days they do 10 times more than they should
Everyone should see everyone else for what they can do and accept that.
No one should complain about anyone.
Men and women should marry and mate for real reasons. They should understand each other, respect each other. They should know when the other needs to be alone. They should not when to leaven the other alone. They should know when the other needs an ear. They should accept stroke from each other.
Those who make children should love them and make them first. When you have children you end and they begin. If you can't accept that you shouldn't make them.
You should be honest with your children.
You should nuture them.
You should accept their free will
Children are the future, you are the past
You should live for the future not live in the past
You should open your mind to all things, but embrace only those you believe in.
You should make up for the fears and shortcomings of your spouse and children, even if you don't subscribe of believe in them.
You should expand your mind, even if you don't subscribe or believe in it.
You should be tolerant, but not a total fool.
You should not cling to things and even people
You need to acknowledge you are wrong, even if you think you're right
You should compromised with the ones you love to keep the peace, but not sacrifice your self in the process
You should stand your ground, yet yeld when it serves a greater purpose, but never give your self away arbitrarily
Sometimes you need to do as you choose or please. Sometimes you need to do waht is right or expected, even if it doesn't please you.
You need to swallow your pride
YOu need to show your pride

It's like this: unfortunate, but it's like this. Christians believe atheists are going to hell. Forever. Atheists believe Christians are deluded, living life in the "bat cave".
Civility between the two - the world you envision - is an illusion. You can't in your wildest dreams come up with a bigger chasm. What would happen to your civility, for example, if I thought your kids - or mom - or wife - were going to fry in an oven till crisp... then fry some more... but I, as a politically correct and respectful Christian, didn't actually tell you that - I believed it , but I didn't tell you. I'm sampling your barbeque and I'm smiling... telling you how great of a neighbor you are... and you're looking at me... thinking what a hypocrite.
I suppose we should both hope real estate values escalate in a big way so we can move. Away. And do it all over again with someone else.
Mankind. Gotta love it.

The beliefs of thiests and athiests are such polar opposites, that it's hard not to think the "other side" is ridiculuous.
I'm an athiest and I try to be nice but, sometimes I just find somethings people believe so funny, that I need to make a ridiculous comment. Sometimes attacking others (not physically) is alright, in this case. Without admitting it, somone might actually listen to what the other has to say. Or even learn something!
And if you have the time look up the "Flying Spaghetti Monster" online. It's quite interesting.

The mudslinging occurs because peoples egos get harmed. A person's self image is important to them, the beliefs they hold onto are part of that self image, even if it extends to the metaphysical or the spiritual. It is sort of ridiculous, because both sides tend to look bad when the mudslinging takes place, no matter who wins. Both sides have faith in something; atheists have faith in hard facts, rather, the ideas they deduce from those facts based on their line of reasoning. Theists have faith in a god of some sort, and their line of reasoning can be quite different than that of an atheist, but, who is to judge what is right or wrong? When it really comes down to it, authority of any kind comes from the number of people who agree with a certain idea or not. A church is judged by its peers by the number of people that come in on Sunday.
Honestly in my opinion, atheism and theism are not necessarily conflicting ideas. They contrast like red and green, yet these colors still belong to the same spectrum of light.

Share beliefs as in ...... Theists believed there is a god / gods, agnostics believes there might be a god / gods, but not defined by current religion, atheists don't believe there is such thing such as a god / gods, anti-theists believe there is no god / gods ......
From the above, you can see these are 4 conflicting beliefs .....
Agnostics and Atheists are willing to listen to either side provided there are evidences, but neither side can produce any. Hence, agnostics takes the stand of possibility of a god and atheists takes the stand of possibility of no god.
Theists and Anti-Theists do not have any evidences but wanted the other party to believe them .....
On a scale of 1 to 4 where 1 is towards there is god and 4 is total certain there is no god, agnostic stands in 2 and atheists stands in 3.
Now, tell me, what is the common beliefs here?

When people ask me about my beliefs, I usually tell them. That's usually followed by 7 or 8 thumbs downs.
I think the problem is that many of the questions asked here are loaded and desire a specific kind of response. The language used in the Y!A questions can stir the pot and cause a defensive or offensive answer.

I agree, but many feel so strongly that their position / point of view is "right", to give in, even a little, would be a sign of weakness and therefore, acknowledge the other side may be, at least a little, right.
Others just like poking buttons just to get a rise out of the other side.

I share my beliefs. Why don't more Christians back off when I share my beliefs instead of immediately telling me I'm going to hell?

I completely agree. But when I do share my beliefs, Christians come along and attack them.
