Cured of What? Being gay? Your suppsition is false. Those young gay boys and homosexual men are not concerned with being gay. They know they are gay, it is part of every fiber of their being. So lets get to the point.
What needs to be cured is a society the preys upon the a minority group of people that has been ostersized and set apart by religious teachings that are in grained in the laws of a land that is suppose to respect individual liberties and freedom of expression and freedom of or should I say freedom from religion.
But where the real problem lies is with the legislated interpretation of the first amendment of the US Constitution with regard to religions. Since the inception of the US was because of taxation from King George the founders choose also to protect religion from undue oversight as the Church of England was during that period of time.
Everything having to do with religion was woven into the laws of the US early on as a way of protection religious freedoms. This created special legislation to cover a myriad of things and along the way marriage was taken from religions from the interpretation of the Bible of being one man and one woman. OOPPS!!!
IF THERE IS FREEDOM OF RELIGION THEN THERE MUST BE FREEDOM FROM RELIGION AS WELL!!!
By legislating the definition of marriage, the laws have done exactly what the founders tried to prevent in the first place, IMPOSE RELIGIOUS VALUES on the subjects of the population of the various states creating the United States.
As a result we have the problem we have today. How can this be solved? A lawsuit must be brought to the US Supreme Court with the resultant decision being that any law that is in effect, imposing religious principles or doctrine upon a member of our society must be declared unconstitutional.
This kind of decision will force the rewriting of 100's of thousands of laws to conform with a Freedom From Religion type decision.
HOW WILL THIS HAPPEN? Well maybe the 10-12% gay population and another 10-12% Bi population and as much as 25% gay/bi/les/trans friendly population of the US should file a class action lawsuit against the United States Government for illegally installing religion based principles or doctrine into the laws of the US.
This suit since it is not a one of individuals but a class would have no choice but to be heard by a federal court. Presentation of the evidence alone would take years and probably three federal judges full time to come to a decision. If done correctly, the judges would have no choice but to decide in favor of the plaintiffs. Would it be appealed? -- Certainly all the way to the Supreme Court. Where it would have to be heard!!! Why? -- Because it would be speaking directly to the one of the single most sacred principles of the first amendment; Freedom of (or) from Religion.
My guess is that it would take a full 20 years to do OR if the group of people I mentioned above really got it together it would only take about 5 years.
And in the end a true separation of church and state would exist.

People switch back all the time. To say a person has no control over their actions is ignorant.
Look at Anne Hetch for example. She was engaged to Ellen, they were to marry once Vermont passed the civil union bill, however Anne made a different choice, dumped Ellen and married a man. She says she suffered from mental illness when she was with Ellen.
My step daughters first relationships were lesbian. We let her know we loved her but would not support her choice. Now she's engaged to a guy.
Don't let anyone tell you that life is predestined. Everyone has choices in their life. To say you don't, to say that you were born to do certain actions is their own selfishness.

This is what the American Psychological Assosiation states about Homosexuality (The APA is the world's leading authority in the field of Psychology).
http://www.apa.org/topics/orientation.html
Is Sexual Orientation a Choice?
No, human beings can not choose to be either gay or straight. Sexual orientation emerges for most people in early adolescence without any prior sexual experience. Although we can choose whether to act on our feelings, psychologists do not consider sexual orientation to be a conscious choice that can be voluntarily changed.
Can Therapy Change Sexual Orientation?
No. Even though most homosexuals live successful, happy lives, some homosexual or bisexual people may seek to change their sexual orientation through therapy, sometimes pressured by the influence of family members or religious groups to try and do so. The reality is that homosexuality is not an illness. It does not require treatment and is not changeable.
However, not all gay, lesbian, and bisexual people who seek assistance from a mental health professional want to change their sexual orientation. Gay, lesbian, and bisexual people may seek psychological help with the coming out process or for strategies to deal with prejudice, but most go into therapy for the same reasons and life issues that bring straight people to mental health professionals.
What About So-Called "Conversion Therapies"?
Some therapists who undertake so-called conversion therapy report that they have been able to change their clients' sexual orientation from homosexual to heterosexual. Close scrutiny of these reports however show several factors that cast doubt on their claims. For example, many of the claims come from organizations with an ideological perspective which condemns homosexuality. Furthermore, their claims are poorly documented. For example, treatment outcome is not followed and reported overtime as would be the standard to test the validity of any mental health intervention.
The American Psychological Association is concerned about such therapies and their potential harm to patients. In 1997, the Association's Council of Representatives passed a resolution reaffirming psychology's opposition to homophobia in treatment and spelling out a client's right to unbiased treatment and self-determination. Any person who enters into therapy to deal with issues of sexual orientation has a right to expect that such therapy would take place in a professionally neutral environment absent of any social bias.
Is Homosexuality a Mental Illness or Emotional Problem?
No. Psychologists, psychiatrists and other mental health professionals agree that homosexuality is not an illness, mental disorder or an emotional problem. Over 35 years of objective, well-designed scientific research has shown that homosexuality, in and itself,is not associated with mental disorders or emotional or social problems. Homosexuality was once thought to be a mental illness because mental health professionals and society had biased information. In the past the studies of gay, lesbian and bisexual people involved only those in therapy, thus biasing the resulting conclusions. When researchers examined data about these people who were not in therapy, the idea that homosexuality was a mental illness was quickly found to be untrue.
In 1973 the American Psychiatric Association confirmed the importance of the new, better designed research and removed homosexuality from the official manual that lists mental and emotional disorders. Two years later, the American Psychological Association passed a resolution supporting the removal. For more than 25 years, both associations have urged all mental health professionals to help dispel the stigma of mental illness that some people still associate with homosexual orientation.
----- also to help you understand what is Homosexuality:
From the University of Olso:
http://www.news-medical.net/?id=20718
"One fundamental premise in social debates has been that homosexuality is unnatural. This premise is wrong. Homosexuality is both common and highly essential in the lives of a number of species,"
Homosexual behaviour has been observed in 1,500 animal species.
"We're talking about everything from mammals to crabs and worms.
"To turn the approach on its head: No species has been found in which homosexual behaviour has not been shown to exist, with the exception of species that never have sex at all, such as sea urchins and aphis. Moreover, a part of the animal kingdom is hermaphroditic, truly bisexual. For them, homosexuality is not an issue."

Happy makes no sense. She doesn't understand why people are gay when there are such good looking girls?? Has she ever heard of the word lesbian. Until all the religions acknowledge to the world that being homosexual is FINE, I don't think there should be any religion.

Some people believe it can be. Some people have even stated that they have been “cured” of their homosexuality. However, mainstream medical or scientific organizations believe that homosexuals are born this way.

Homosexuality is not an affliction and is not "curable." There are those who have been able to turn off their sexuality, but it is virtually impossible to create a real, heterosexually active person out of a real, Kinsey-6 homosexual.
The proper treatment is to help in adjustment to their orientation.

You can only be cured of physical diseases or emotional problems....you can't be cured of homosexuality any more than you can be cured of having blue eyes.

What an ignorant question.
It's not a disease. People are born gay.
People get harassed because of prejudice and ignorance. You should be thinking about how to "cure" bigots.
