No difference when used in terms of dead folk. Both have the goal of confusing and scaring people. Spirits or ghosts, are unreliable and often blatent liars. You just never know who they really are and they are rarely who they claim to be. Playing around in the spirit world can have dark consequences.
When referring to the living the spirit is often equated with the persons personality. She has a lively spirit but can also refer to the soul that lives on after death.

spirit is less substantial then a ghost. a ghost can touch things and interract with people it is the esscence of a person trapped in the location it haunts. a spirit is not limited to any area and is what makes the person transferred over from life . it can be good or evil. it gives advice also. it can be a loved one. if the mind or thoughts and feelings could exist outside of the brain this is what a spirit would be. a ghost is an often transparent person that is dead. a spirit is the living part of a person that lives independant of the body, the soul is similiar except it is the body of the person after they no longer need their earthly body,

Technically there is no different. Spirit is the correct term to call a deceased person who hasn't gone over to the other side. I think calling a spirit a ghost would probably be like calling an Italian a Genny.

These words are usually used with the same meaning.
The part of a person that survives bodily death. However, ghost can also be used to mean a type of recording (a ghost that does the same thing over and over again and has no intelligence or independent existence), just like watching a video.
Under the Science & Mathematics section there is an alternative category for parapsychology and paranormal phenomena. Please consider posting your ghost, haunting, UFO, and paranormal questions in that section.

The spirit is the part of you that continues on after the body dies. A ghost may be either a spirit that is 'stuck' in this plane or it may be a type of 'recoding' of something that happened and it is playing back randomly.

A spirit can posses a living body and is hear by choice.
A ghost is hear because it has unfinished business. A ghost has the ability to turn its emotions into solid energy and even become a poltergyst.

In the Bible there is no difference.
In the King James Version what is translated as "Holy Ghost" is translated by more recent translations, "Holy Spirit".
