If we are to be tolerant of everyone, we should have some straight parades that celebrate the fact that we are not wrong. And that anyone who even tries to think otherwise is a heterophobe.

So if the theory of evolution is right! We would see humans evolving in other things or creatures or whatever.

Therefore, the Theory of Evolution happened long time ago! Now it is dead.

I am talking about HUMANS O.K

I am NOT TALKING ABOUT ANIMALS OR BUGS LEAVE THAT ALONE O.

You do realize, I hope, that not all theists are like these fundamentalists that base all their faith on a text that they cannot even read and need someone else to translate for them.

That some of us realize that empirical scientific evidence has more weight than a theological view point. And that many of us have no interest in forcing or even pressuring our theology on you.

please dont tell me you view us all in the same light.

The muslims of TODAY have nothing to 9/11 which was in the PAST. Most of the terrorist have been KILLED or CAUGHT with the EXCEPTION of Osama Bin Laden. So, should today's muslims been held accountable for the actions of their ANCESTORS?

Ok, I know many of us do not believe the same way. But, there are some of you who are the on the complete opposite scale of beliefs that I respect so much. A dear friend just passed away and as I type this I am overwhelmed with saddness. I would really appreciate prayers from those who do believe and some good mojo from those who don't. . .please think of his dear family. . .thanks in advance.

I'm a disabled college student who has to use a tape recorder for classes, & in my psychology class today, there was a chick sitting in front of me, & we had class discussion, & every time someone behind me said something, she truned around & was smacking on her gum really loud, & I listened to the tape after class, & her gum-smacking picked up on the tape. I was FURIOUS! & my ears are sensitive to loud gum chewing.

I was thinking, "Damn! She doesn't even care about what my needs are. Just as long as she can get the pleasure in doing what she WANTS"

Last night I took my 15 yr. old daughter to a formal Gala. She has a larger than life personality, and personally introduced herself to some of the celeberties, and also 6 high ranking West Point milatary Officers that were there. When she introduced herself to the Officers, she saluted them and thanked them for serving our country. My problem is this. In a formal civilian function. I think that it is not appropriate to salute these officers. She did each one individually and I thnk if was embarasing to them. She is so excited and I know I have to tell her that this was not appropriate. How do I tell her, do I tell her and when?

She is a double honors student, and also is in ROTC.
(All the Officers danced with her later. she was the youngest person there)

I have spent many years arguing on the level of politics and ethics.

I had always thought that this was about the lowest level you could really have a coherent argument in, because more basic concepts are too firmly self-evident and ingrained in the minds of those who hold them.

However, after much experience, it's become clear that no attempt at higher level debate is possible unless there is agreement on the basics.

So the only way to make any headway seems to be to start with dispelling the supernatural metaphysics that underlies so much of today's thought. The desired outcome would be either to change the minds of religionists (I know, not much chance of that) or to marginalize them, removing them from any serious consideration in serious debate.

What is the best strategy?

1. Using logic consistently both in dealing with them and educating others?

2. Using ridicule and shame to reveal how absurd their ideas are, and possibly make them actually think about them?

I've wondered how many people have whole heartedly accepted christianity w/o wondering why it is they even believe it. Show me why you believe in Christianity or any other religion.
