I've wondered how many people have whole heartedly accepted christianity w/o wondering why it is they even believe it. Show me why you believe in Christianity or any other religion.

Most people who profess to be Christians don't really understand the term (much like "theory"). They have grown up with the impression that "Christian"="good person" and so of course that's how they see themself. That's why you get so many people who think Christianity somehow involves not drinking or not swearing.

This majority of "believers" who I usually call "Christians by default" actually believe something along the lines of "you get rewarded for being a good person, and the afterlife depends on the good and bad things you do in life." This is really more of a Buddhist or other eastern religious concept, completely out of sync with real Christian teaching.

Notice that I did not in any way say this is true for all Christians. I know there are many of you out there who actually understand the Christian religion and believe accordingly. You have a whole different set of issues that are best addressed elsewhere.

If Christ were lying or insane about being the Son of God, Christianity would have disappeared as soon as he did. There were many people who witnessed His work on Earth both before and after His crucifixion, and though there are differences among the Gospels, they all corroborate each other and point to the same conclusion. The one image that sticks in my mind most clearly is the crucifixion scene in which Christ tells the criminal hanging next to him that he will be with him that day in paradise. If what He said was not true for the robber, and is then not true for us, many very smart people have been misled over the last 2,000 years. I have found in reading the Gospels with the mindset that Christ was telling the truth, rather than trying to discount every action and word, that it rings true and is genuine. Bottom line, though, is you have to take it on faith. All the best to you in your journey.

For one thing, having Faith that our lives are in the hands of God and that He will get you through all things when you believe, makes life so much easier to live. He provides at all times and I think it's selfish of us as humans to think that we have that much control. Look around, there is no way that this beautiful planet of ours as it spins on such a precise access and houses so many forms of life that are all perfected that it just "happened" or better yet evolved. It's hard for non-believers to understand the peace that comes along with understanding the truth. Why anybody wouldn't at least want to try and find out how good knowing the Lord can be is beyond me.

I questioned at one point in my life...
Why do I still believe? These are not in any particular order.

1. Science has yet to produce a solid case for evolution that satisfies me. They haven't been able to reproduce that primordial pool. What chemicals were in it? What was the temperature of it? What caused it to change from a pool of chemicals to a pool of single celled animals? There are just too many variables yet to be accounted for.

2. I like the idea that there is something bigger than myself in the universe.

3. I like having a God to talk to about my cares and concerns and get help (either physically in the form of church friends or via inspiration)

4. Church gives me a social network. Humans are social animals we need deep meaningful relationship in order to survive and be happy. I've never managed to make any deep meaningful connections with people at bars or my co-workers. Everytime I tried to do that I found that the relationship were conditional there way always the "what's in it for me" factor that I don't see that among christians.

The evidence supports it as true. Take the New Testamant and research it for faults. Don't half do it...research it right. Go to people that know. Read books from credible sources. If you really want to know if it is true or not you will put in the time and effort to do so and I guarantee that you will find that all the evidence out there to support Chrisitianity is true. No Doubt in my mind.

One should not blindly believe Christianity because someone said to. God must be sought and he will find you.

Yes, I have seriously questioned Christianity, even the very existence of God.
I am a thinker, a person who loves science and reading many books ranging from physics to philosophy and to other religions of the world.
It is kind of annoying when atheists assume the all believers do not think for themselves. I have thought about a lot of different angles and still do, I personally reason within my self, that there is a God. No one had to convince of that. That is my own personal belief that came from within me.

I don't know any Christians who believe in Jesus Christ, and the word of God, the bible, without "reasons" for their belief. Since I can only answer for myself, I believe in God because there has never been a time I did not feel His presence. Much later in my adult life, someone brought me to a bible teaching church and, for the first time in my life, I began to study the bible. After many years of study, I came to believe it is what it claims to be; given by inspiration of God.

I also recognized, through those many years of in-depth study of the bible, God's character, and the person of Jesus Christ as being the "presence" I had always felt with me.

You have it all wrong. There is no need for anyone of any religion to show you or anyone else WHY they believe. That's why it's called faith.
Christians are expected to demonstrate and try to act in the ways of Jesus on a daily basis. If that is considered showing you then so be it. It's not about proving anything.
I can ask you; why do you love a certain person? show me why, or prove it.

I asked the powers that filled me to tell me weather i was being used or not, i got my answer right away, with in the next two days, i found out the guy now only was trying to use me, but had a girlfriend at the same time, and he came out and told me this himself, i prised the great powers, even though i was hurt, i wasnt blined, so now, im filled with hope and power in my found religion, and in the end, isnt that what religion is anyways?

Everyone questions. Most people believe it beause they where born into it. The only way religion really affects people every day lives is by setting moral standards to follow by and i think thats just what it needs to do.
