You do realize, I hope, that not all theists are like these fundamentalists that base all their faith on a text that they cannot even read and need someone else to translate for them.

That some of us realize that empirical scientific evidence has more weight than a theological view point. And that many of us have no interest in forcing or even pressuring our theology on you.

please dont tell me you view us all in the same light.

Your "religion" has done a very good job of forcing support for your racial state in Palestine on us. No one is doing more to pressure their theology on us. We pay billions a year to support a brutish government of utterly dubious character, and all this because your religion says Palestine belongs to jews? And you don't call that pressuring your theology on us?

I have never had a problem with other peoples beliefs, be it the christian god, or pink unicorns. It is only when they attempt to influence the government or school system that it becomes an issue.

Also when they make sweeping ignorant comments about Atheists and others who do not share their beliefs, I have to speak up.

No, I an very aware that there are some open minded theists. I may not agree with all of what you believe but at least we can have an intelegent conversation. I wish there were more a lot more like you. Unfortunately, from my experience, you are in a minority.

It is often difficult to deal with individuals and not apply a general stereo-type. You are right in that not every Christian takes the fundamentalist viewpoint, just as every atheist is not critical of them.

Yes we do realize that you are not all the same.

I believe that theists like you are in the majority.

It is just the ones with their head in the sand are much more vocal.

I'm glad you don't feel the need to push your faith on others. You're 1 of the good ones.

Now I do.

I've just been in an email correspondence with one of the thickest whack jobs I've yet to encounter here.

Thanks, grav. I needed the reminder :)

You have never been and never will be in that group... don't worry.

Yes, I know that. Most theists I know are neither creationists nor have they tried to force their religion on me.

Yes, we get that. But the fundies really do get all of you ridiculed. You need to take that up with them, because it is really hard to seperate you guys most of the time.

True.

Some of us go the "go ye therefore..preach the Gospel" or don't as much.

Sharing the Gospel and pressuring should be two different things, only God can save.
