This is one of my biggest grammar pet peeves. The correct phrase is "I couldn't care less" - it's a negative statement. Otherwise you're admitting you COULD care less than you currently do about something, thus you are not yet indifferent to the subject... you actually care a little bit. If one really was admitting (s)he could care less that is a pointless statement to make.

"Oh, you COULD care less? Well... um, thanks for telling me that I guess."

What are your pet peeves?

In a conversation about religion in general, a friend of mine brought up question to which I didn't have an answer, nor anyone else in the room. Christianity is taught from the Bible. The Bible states that the Jews are God's chosen people. Jews do not believe that Jesus Christ was the Messiah. Christianity teaches you must accept Christ as your Saviour to be accepted into Heaven. Are God's chosen people (Jews) going to Hell, because they do not believe Christ is the Savior? If not, why are they the exception to the rule? Any legitimate insight into this is appreciated.

If God refers to Jesus as His Witness in Isaiah 43:10 would it not be fitting that His servants also be referred to as Witnesses?

...if the Bible were written with God being female? Not necessarily using the term Goddess, but just using female pronouns, She instead of He? Since, as some have said, God has no sex, what, if any, problem would you have with that?

...that I believe that people of other faiths will not necessarily be excluded from salvation and heaven just because they have another religion. I just can't accept that my loving God would codemn all jews, muslims, buddists, among many other religions, to Hell.

I would appreciate any reasoned or thoughtfull answers on this subject.

Thanks

how messed up is the idea that he/she/it would really give a damn about you and your insignificant life? Or that he/she/it would look approximately like you, or at least your color scheme, and share approximately your values?

Is this some form of megalomania?

Face it, you're about as important in the big scheme of things as a clump of algae.

isn't it really hearsay? God speaks to ONE guy in the desert, he then tell a bunch of other people and years after he dies someone writes it all down....and that is the 100% perfect word of god?

why just one guy in one place?

it does not seem like a good way to transmit such an important message. It then comes down, not so much to trusting god, but trusting this guy who may or may not have spoke with god.
It does not seem fair to make humans have to choose which of the people who claim to speak for god is the true one. What if you are just dumb and choose wrong because you don't know any better....?

About a fortnight ago, I was skimming my Bible, and happened to come upon the book of Revelation. After reading for a while, I realized that Satan became associated with Rome, and other empires that had conquered the Jews at other times. Now I have two thoughts: firstly, what does the Catholic Church (my own denomination) have to say about the book, seeing as it accuses the seat of our Church as a place of evil. Secondly, does this imply that Rome, the birthplace of Western culture, was the origin of evil, which has now spread to every corner of the world? Please, I ask of you, do not muddle this question with brevity; I am only concerned with serious answers.

Let's say that Christianity was slightly different. All of the teachings and laws were the same. There's a compassionate God who loves his children (yes, I know this is a debatable point which I too would contest, but assume it for this question). Everything is the same except for two small points. God, whether by lack of ability or a want to make us independent, informs us that he will not respond to requests in prayers. That and there's no salvation. No damnation either; just nothing.

If you are a Christian, would you still follow a Christian life living by God's law and praying to him? If you would continue this, would your faith or religious experience be different at all?

For anyone, Christian or not, how would you expect this change to affect Christianity's following? If you expect a significant decline, does this mean you see their faith as motivated by selfish interests rather than altruistic sentiments? I guess that wording shows my opinion, but I'd like to hear yours.

according to the abrahamic faiths...why did god send all this phrophets to the same place?

In the OT, God is only about the Jewish people, and screw everyone else.
Christianity is pretty good at adapting to differant cultures, but jesus was also a jew....so to follow jesus do you also have to follow the OT god and his rules? Should christians then not eat pork?

In islam, I have been told many times that the Koran can only be understood in classical arabic. The grand majority of the world does not understand this language, so why would god make his word to all only in one language...which most people don't understand....why not send a Koran to the Koreans in hangul? ect....Why do muslims call god allah all the time when they are not speaking arabic and only pray in arabic? Does god not understand english?

the full question is: are most religions mostly vehicals of tribalism? If they are universal, why where they not revealed by god to diff ppl?

There is no way you can justify your views unless you flat out admit you worship Satan. Admit it or seriously consider you are living unrighteously and a lie. You would not want others viewing yourself or your race with such a scornful judgment, so why are you doing it to them?
