how messed up is the idea that he/she/it would really give a damn about you and your insignificant life? Or that he/she/it would look approximately like you, or at least your color scheme, and share approximately your values?

Is this some form of megalomania?

Face it, you're about as important in the big scheme of things as a clump of algae.

Every life form is equally insignificant in the grand scheme.

Except, of course, for me.

Your question is very similar to one which I have been considering mentally: Why would a creative entity capable of inciting a UNIVERSE, then concentrate his theological efforts upon a minuscule area in the Middle East upon this relatively insignificant planet located upon a distant arm of a galaxy, etc., to the apparent ignoring of the remainder of his incomprehensibly vast Cosmos?? That concept makes no sense! To me it seems relatively obvious that humans created god rather than the reverse!

It is inconsistent to bash the belief of billions of people as a form of megalomania and not see the megalomania of your action.

If the mysteries of the universe depend on your outlook and if the world revolved around your personal views - THEN and ONLY then you would be correct. From YOUR viewpoint, the concept of god is what you dream it up to be.

The REALITIES however, are not dependent on you. You see, even professional atheists who are serious about science (while admitting they don't believe in a god) they can not rule out that possibility. Science would have to know what God is comprised of. Science yields to the possibility of co existing dimensions whereby "unseen" beings can be as valid and as real as you and I. That being the case, God can not easily be dismissed.

THAT my friend, is science, and intelligent thought. I'm certainly glad I am not as narrow minded as yourself

It is megalomania on a grand scale. The human race is a race of megalomaniacs.

Christians why do you not answer the question, you either ask a question or you stumble upon your words like sheep led to a slaughter. If you can't answer the question, pass because it makes your God look silly.

We were created in the image of God and God wanted us to keep the laws He established. Well that was something else He had to overcome so He sent the INNOCENT PERFECT ONE to take on our sins like the priests were to pass on the sins of the people on the day of atonement. So Christ Himself took it all on Himself to make we the forgiven ones to look perfect in the Father's eyes so we would be acceptabe to a Holy God.http://www.carm.org/doctrine/100truths.htm

And yet, people insist on praying for the most ridiculous things, like rain -- or passing their college exams -- or miraculous cures.

Actually. I think you're over rating an individual's importance.

If christians REALLY understood the magnitude of existence, I can't see how they could poosibly hold onto their faith.
