I have a gun that I keep by my bed, and pepper spray. I lock all the doors and windows, and I lock the door to whatever room I'm in, but I still don't feel safe. I can't afford a security system or a dog. Any other suggestions?

Assuming the Word of God is faithfully recorded, the connection in Revelation appears unmistakable:

Rev. 1:8- "I am the Alpha and the Omega...the Almighty" (The Alpha and Omega is Jehovah)

Rev. 22:13- "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last.." (Jehovah is also called the First and the Last)

Rev. 1:17-18- "I am the First and the Last...I was dead.."

It appears that the One who is speaking in these verses identifies Himself not only by His death but by His Name, in Rev. 22:16.

I am Half Japanese, one quarter Irish, and one quarter French. I was raised by my father (Japanese) in a mostly Asian community in southern Louisiana, and I have always identified myself (culturally) as Japanese. I look mostly Japanese -- angled brown eyes, yellowish skin tone, straight black hair, etc. -- but I do have noticeable eyelid creases and a prominent nasal bridge. As such, I am more often than not pegged as caucasian by onlookers -- understandably, this irritates me to no end. A friend once suggested that I get plastic surgery to minimize the problematic traits, and I am seriously considering it (once I get old enough). It doesn't conflict with any of my personal morals, nor do I feel that it means that I am ashamed of my parentage . . . I know that genetically I am half caucasian, I just don't feel that it has played into my culturally upbringing.

So here is the problem: should I consider the surgery, or should I just learn to bear with the genetic hand I was dealt?

Does it get in the way of you having a good time or you think Christians are holier than thou? CHristians are supposed to be loving & peaceful, as Jesus taught.

What if there is God???

living fossils reveal that living things did not descend from one another in stages, nor have they
evolved in any way. The fossil record provides no examples of intermediate forms. Countless
living things have remained unchanged for millions of years, and their current anatomical
structures are exactly the same as they were millions of years ago. The fossil record is almost
complete with both animal and plant specimens demonstrating this. It definitively and scientifically refutes evolution.
The Earth is filled with millions-of-years-old fossils of present-day living things. A very large part of these have been unearthed, and everywhere that paleontologists excavate and study, still they find fossil specimens of modern living things with all their flawless attributes. Kept in countries' museums are millions-of-years-old spiders, ants, flies, spiders, scorpions, crabs, frogs and many other creatures, extinct and otherwise.

It seems rather pointless that there is no point to life... is there a UP side to be a atheist? Is there more to life then just to live and then to die and rot away?

I find Saint Ava very interesting, and I have chosen to write my Confirmation report on her. I am having trouble finding enough information for my paper, and I do not want to have to choose another Saint.

So far I know that she was:
niece of Pepin
was a Benedictine (later an Abess)
lived around 845
was cured of blindness by St. Rainfredis

If anyone could help me out, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I'm assuming that you want to show the scientific community that evolution is false. You can't prove evolution false by saying it goes against your religious beliefs. You won't convince anybody that way.

Instead, if you really want to convince evolutionists that evolution is wrong, you'll need to show how evolution is wrong, and back it up with sound reasoning.

Evolution is currently taught in schools around the world (even in Christian colleges), and the "debate" is nonexistent except in the United States.

I suggest you read Wikipedia's article on evolution here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evolution

It addresses many misunderstandings about evolution, which is pretty much all that I find on Yahoo Answers.

So here's my question: what are your reasons for rejecting evolution? Have you read enough about both sides of the debate to make an informed opinion on it? Are you certain that you don't have a simple misunderstanding of it?

I guessing most people are against it cause its morally wrong.
but the thing is, in a creationist point of view, Adam and Eves children must have banged each other to create the human race. So at one point it was OK, but of course it was deemed wrong when there were a lot of people, plus i personally thing it should be wrong because us men are pigs, If incest common, wed have brothers/fathers practically raping sisters/daughters and also it dosent create diversity cause more likly than not, people will marry into their own families, thats why i think genetic retardation of offsprings is a natural safeguard against it it. However, say an adult brother-sister want to have a relationship with no kids, is that more wrong than a gay couple, something that has never been approved by god?
Dont give me, "their both wrong answer". If one had to exist, which would u approve? And dont get into a debate about homosexuality being right either.

Do you believe you may do as you please, even though you are commiting a sin, know it's wrong, but in the end it will be allright because you will be forgiven and jesus died for you? Although it states in scripture that it is wrong, maybe even a horrendous act?
Putting aside the thoughts of "well, people make mistakes".

Be truthful, do some of you think this way?

----------

On another note, those who do not adhere to "sin", as it were, have you had experiences or witnessed actions against others that would be considered sinning? What are your thoughts on this when it comes to religion?

would you do these 2 cruel and mean things?
1. It would be really stupid if someone says global warming is a myth or these kind of cycles are repeating. It is only getting worse everyday. Yet you prefer not to leave your own vehicle.Doesn't ur brain trigger some warning messages that this is dangerous? You get stuck in huge lines of traffic yet you don't EVER want to get out of your vehicle. I personally prefer walking even 3 miles to work unless someone comes out with a eco friendly vehicle. Any time someone points that out you talk just about individuality or trash the global warming stuff. The government could easily have provided lot of public transportation if they liked but you, personally, don't prefer that.

and learn to have a relationship with their child and spend the time with their child to teach them the difference between right and wrong, then we could stop playing the blame game. I've listened to rap music my whole life and watch all types of movies.......and I have a very good head on my shoulders. So it's not the rap music and the movies that makes a person who they are........it's the way they are raised and the relationships they have with their parents.

What do you think?

According to the Treaty of Tripoli of 1797 :

Article 11 , with its famous phrase, ‘the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion,’

Than why is the bible being used as an excuse to deny gay marriage? I am an American who is not Christian.

We have to make sure that anyone who would put the bible anywhere near our laws does not have an elected job in our
government. To do that we have to vote!

TO REGAIN OUR RELIGIOUS FREEDOM WE HAVE TO VOTE

I got that in a response to 1 of my questions.

Would you trade 1 born again Chrisian for Thomas Edison?

I wouldn't give a thousand born again Christians for 1 Thomas Edison unless they actually acomplished something other than being born again.

Well actually a person being born twice would definitely be Guinness worthy.

How many atheists would you trade for a born again Christian?

Buddhism is much more than a religion. It is a philosophy of Life, because philosphy means
"love of wisdom" and the Buddhist path can be summed up as follows:
1 - to lead a moral and ethically sound life.
2 - to be mindful & aware of one's thoughts,
words, and actions.
3 - to develop Wisdom and Understanding.

But how can Buddhism help me ?
Buddhism explains our real purpose in life.
It explains apparent injustice and inequality around the world. It Provides a code of practice which brings Peace and Happiness.
Buddhism has the answers to the problems in modern materialistic societies. It includes a Deep Understanding of the human mind, which prominent Scientists, and Psychologists around the world are now discovering to be very advanced and effective!! Buddhism teaches not to believe everything we're told but to develop wisdom, which requires an open, objective, unbigoted mind. We can understand others when we can truly understand ourselves through Wisdom.

We had some relatives to stay over Christmas. My cousin has phoned today, to inform me that he has left a sock at my house and demands it back, since it has thrown his entire sock-timetable out of kilter.
I don't like my cousin, because he makes my son colour-code his books and toys. Should I return the sock? It is black with green stripes.
