5 to 20 seconds - some discomfort in lungs and respiration count increases dramatically
20 to 1 minute - gasping and increased pain in lungs
1 to 2 minute - loss of muscle control and decreased respirations. Intense headache
2 to 4 minutes - loss of conciousnous. respirations descreased farther.
6 to 7 minutes - respirations cease
8 to 10 minutes - pulse rate decreases
10 minutes - brain damage begins
10 to 12 minutes - heart ceases to function
12 to 15 minutes - irreverseable brain damage intensifies and to heart as well.
15 to 20 minutes - brain damage reaches point to cease brain wave function - death.

These times are estimates and can vary based on many factors however the total amount of time to death will not vary by much. Once the oxygen is depleted in the human system, biological death will occur in about 20 minutes.

Clearly the importance of available oxygen to every cell of the body is a matter of health or sickness, weariness or vitality, a weak immune system or a strong one, and even life or death. In fact, after about 6 minutes the brain without oxygen begins to die. It is an essential nutrient. The brain becomes dead.

Without oxygen the brain ceases to function, the lungs fail, and the heart stops. So I'd say maybe a few minutes.
