Assuming the Word of God is faithfully recorded, the connection in Revelation appears unmistakable:

Rev. 1:8- "I am the Alpha and the Omega...the Almighty" (The Alpha and Omega is Jehovah)

Rev. 22:13- "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last.." (Jehovah is also called the First and the Last)

Rev. 1:17-18- "I am the First and the Last...I was dead.."

It appears that the One who is speaking in these verses identifies Himself not only by His death but by His Name, in Rev. 22:16.

It may be a difficult pill to swallow for some, but Jesus' claim to be God (John 10:33) was understood by the Jews - the very reason they took up stones to kill Him - "because thou, being a man, makest thyself God."

Rev 1:1 shows that Jehovah, Jesus, an angel or John can be speaking.

As to titles, Jehovah, Jesus, David, Jehu are called Kings, but that doesn't make them the same or equal.

When Jesus is refered to as first and last in Rev 1:17, 18 it is in connection with being the first resurrected by Jehovah, and the last to be resurrected by Jehovah. Once Jesus was resurrected, he is used by Jehovah to resurrect all others.

Jesus died, Jehovah can never die.

When Jehovah is refered to as the first and last, or Alpha and Omega, it is in reverence to His never having a beginning nor an end.

Jesus has a beginning, Rev 3:14, Col 1:15.

Jesus was given immortality as a reward for faithfulness.

Jehovah cannot die.

(Psalm 10:16) Jehovah is King to time indefinite, even forever

The bible reserves the formal title "Alpha and Omega" exclusively as a reference to Almighty Jehovah God ("the Father"). However, Christ Jesus ("the Son") is both "first" and "last" among creatures in several ways. The Scripture here is interesting because "first" can here be alternately translated as "firstborn", which Jesus obviously is, both by his creation and by his resurrection.

(Revelation 1:17-18) And he laid his right hand upon me and said: “Do not be fearful. I am the First and the Last, 18 and the living one; and I became dead, but, look! I am living forever and ever, and I have the keys of death and of Hades.

(Acts 26:23) Christ was to suffer and, as the first to be resurrected from the dead

(Colossians 1:12,13,18) Thanking the Father... He delivered us from the authority of the darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of his love... [Jesus] is the head of the body, the congregation. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that he might become the one who is first in all things

(Revelation 1:5) Jesus Christ, “the Faithful Witness,” “The firstborn from the dead

This Scripture alludes to resurrection, and fittingly Jesus was "the Last" to be resurrected personally by Jehovah God.

Isa 44:6 “This is what Jehovah has said, the King of Israel and the Repurchaser of him, Jehovah of armies, ‘I am the first and I am the last, and besides me there is no God

(Isaiah 41:4) Who has been active and has done [this], calling out the generations from the start? “I, Jehovah, the First One; and with the last ones I am the same.”

(Isaiah 48:12) “Listen to me, O Jacob, and you Israel my called one. I am the same One. I am the first. Moreover, I am the last.

(Revelation 22:13) I am the Al′pha and the O·me′ga, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.

Jehovah is the only true god no god was made before him or after him.

Jesus is the first of Jehovah's creation calling him his firstborn son and the last messiah who died for our sins

The important thing to remember about the Book of Revelations is the ENTIRE thing is a giant metaphore.

But, assuming it is true, you have to read the entire chapter to find the true meaning, as well as know a bit about the rest of the bible. Jesus is both the son of man and the son of God, having a human mother and a divine father. Because of this divine blood, he is often decribed as having a piece of the Jehovah within him. Thus, he was his own self as well as a physical form Jehovah could work through to do miracles.

However, physical forms are not ment to last forever. They grow old and they die. Jehovah, being perfect and immortal, could not and can not do either of these things, but his son, being mortal, could. And since Jehovah was connected to his son, when Jesus died Jehovah acquired the knowledge of the fear, the pain and the release of Death that mortals have to go through. So, in a sense, Jehovah "died" when Jesus died.

Now, it is important to remember that Death is never final for many religions. Death is a transition from the physical world to a world of the soul, but the souls of mortals are not allowed to cross into the planes of the immortals, for they have the knowledge of Death with them, and Death is imperfect. Jesus, being both mortal and immortal, could cross the planes and since Jehovah now had the knowledge of Death within him without having to go through it himself, the planes could remain perfect even with a crossing element. Theoretically, that is, and it is because of these two things that the weird things happening in Revelations are happening in Revelations.

Reader you must understand that revelation is very symbolic. Jehova was never dead he never died. Jesus died but Jehovah is and was the first and the last. I advise you that when ever you start to read ask for understanding and knowledge of his word. And he will give it to you if you come to him with a sincere heart

Figurative language IS NOT EXCLUSIVE.

The use of some bit of figurative language with one meaning in scripture DOES NOT prohibit the same figure being used WITH A DIFFERENT MEANING in some other context.

2 distinct entities are BOTH described as "morning star" in scripture. In no way does this mean they are the same since neither is a planet. - Is 14:12 and Rev 22:16

Rev 1:17-18 refers to Jesus Christ who is God....."WAS dead and is alive"
He did die and arose again from the grave!!!!!!.
why don't you quote the whole verse instead of taking it totally out of context?
Rev 22:16 says nothing of the kind!
which bible are you reading from.....
the Adolph Hitler translation?
come back when you know what you are talking about.

Jehovah God can not die. Jesus Christ Jehovah's first creation came to earth to die for our sins. Jehovah is the Father and Jesus Christ is the son. they are not one and the same. Jesus never said he was God. who was Jesus Christ praying to? Jesus said he can not do anything without the Father in Heaven.

Jesus is was and always will be God, but He was in the flesh of man when He died. Glorified in God when He resurrected.
