As a Wiccan, I don't believe in "sin" but of course certain acts are wrong and hateful. I think it's sad that we need to create some kind of punishment to kep people from hurting one another. You simply should not rape, murder, or torture. Does one really need the fear of hell to keep them from doing those things??

Hi there KiKi-la,
all of do thing we know are wrong when we do them and no doubt some think they will be forgiven which most often they are but when someone gets habitual about some sins then they lose their eternal inheritance check out 1COR 6:9.
What is more important is people need to have a penatent attitude when they confess and ask for forgiveness. If they do not and keep doing these over and over then they must have either quenched the Spirit or never had it to begin with, either way it is a sign of a big problem. People filled with the Spirit suffer conviction (an emotional pang) when they do something against God's will even if they do not understand why and anyone who deadens this communication by ignoring it will some day wish they had not been so hard hearted.

I am against sin, so I try to live my life in ways that God will accept. Let's face it, though, humans are not infallible, even the ones who try hard. Temptation is always in our path, and it takes people with the strongest wills to overcome it.
Yes, I've often wished I could do things over again, and do them differently. I regret some of the things I've done in the past. People do make mistakes, but if you learn by your mistakes, you're one step ahead of the game. Religion helps us overcome all but the most devastating sins, but God doesn't expect us to be perfect. I think the important thing besides learning from mistakes, is to never repeat them. And as far as witnessing sins, that happens every day in the media. Turn on the TV and read the newspapers. Then be thankful that you're just a common, everyday person with only a few skeletons in your closet. Most of us are like a brand-new car on the outside, with nothing worse than a loud muffler or a few spark plugs missing.

What I think is that you may be forgiven but you are not with the Lord when we are sinning. Sin separates us from God and if we Love God we hate it when that happens. It happens none the less. Right now I am trying and failing miserably to let the love God so graciously gave me flow onto others but I keep getting mad and just the other day I told God that I guess I'll just go to hell because I'm not forgiving him(the person I was angry with) but after a while and with pray I was willing to let it go and truthfully I felt lighter and more free than when I was holding all that anger and nurturing it by reliving the situation over and over in my head. Something else I learned was that God is the only one who really listens to us. I mean I'm just as guilty by not listening either to others. I'm also trying to work on that. I mean if we don't listen how can we say we love? Love is a verb. More importantly it is not what others think but what you as an individual think and that is the standard that you should judge your own life by. More importantly as thoughts are sometimes hard to judge when people put them into words it is important to remember that God judges our hearts and actual thoughts and we are not qualified to as we don't listen to others. Not really.

Remember that God hated Esau before he was even born, he did nothing to "deserve" God's wrath supposedly, and yet he was not saved. So, that gives some credibility to the concept of original sin and its effects & just how deep it goes. Original sin is not "sins never committed." It's our condition, condemned at birth save for God's grace. Moses did not get his son circumcised, and God almost killed him for it. If baptism replaces circumcision, then maybe we should back away from declaring all children innocent today. Unless we just want to make God a nice God because comfortable religion is so easy to believe. Take baptism seriously, in other words. Christians, have your children baptized and bring them up in the fear of the Lord. They, too, belong under the sign and seal of a covenant. It's not an option.

Basically, it comes down to this.
God knows your heart. He forgives you if you are truly sorry, and truly repent. Repenting means to turn away from that sin and not do it again. "Go, and sin no more."
Premeditated sin, thinking you can come afterwards and ask for forgiveness doesn't cut it. I don't believe someone who does that is truly sorry.
Bottom line: God is the one who knows your heart. He forgives if your heart is right. Is your heart right when you sin and then have every intention of going back out and doing it again? I don't think so.
But, you see, God will deal with you on that. It's not up to you or me or anyone else to say whether someone is forgiven or not. Only God knows, and the person who is forgiven knows.

A lot of people are confused on this. A sin is a sin and yes God will forgive you but if you continue to do the same thing over and over he refers to this as looking in a mirrior and turning away and forgetting what you look like. We all have choices and if you continue to do the same thing over and over knowing it's wrong you may not be saved.

I don't "proclaim" sin but even as a Christian I know that I am a sinner. Scripture teaches that "all will sin and fall short of the glory of God". In other words, all of us Christian to Athiest and in between are sinners. Christ is salvation from sin. That doesn't give us free reign to do what we want though, Christ seeks a relationship with us, through that relationship we strive to please Him by not sinning. We'll fail, but I live to please God who has done so much for me.

I'm not a Christian, but that doesn't mean I don't have morals. I do what is morally right to the best of my ability (and to my own estimation of what is morally right!). I pay no attention if it's a "sin" or not, and I don't meddle in anyone else's business to see if they are sinning or not either.
