and that if gays want legal rights, they should just get civil unions or something, and leave Marriage alone.

This begs the question -- does this mean that Marriage as a religious ceremony is distinct from Marriage as a legal proceeding?

If marriage is religious, and some religions DO define marriage in such a way amenable to gay marriage (I myself have attended multiple handfastings for two gay men), then in a land where freedom of religion is held as sacrosanct by the First Amendment, should we not consider forbidding gay marriage as a violation of the First Amendment?

Or do we need to separate the religious aspect entirely from the religious aspect, say by having the Law *ONLY* handle Civil Union, and the Religion *ONLY* handle the Marriage?

This is how it is handled in the UK -- the ceremony in the Registar's office is forbidden from having religious overtones.

What are your views on making this distinction between the religious and legalistic aspects of it?

I get almost everything except for this case. It just doesn't make any sense to me...Is there any way where it can be put in easier terms, or examples??

...would that be proof that God exists, or that at least some of Christianity is true? I don't believe in God, but I wonder how I would react if I really thought I saw an exorcism. Granted, if you don't believe in God, you're not likely to believe someone is truly possessed, but what if you saw some crazy stuff? Would you be at all swayed to believe?

In my heart I love my fiancee, but my head keeps casting doubt:

3 months ago I asked my fiancee for time apart. things were moving too fast, and we were getting serious. She was very upset, but I insisted and didnt see her for a month. I realized how much I loved and I asked her to take me back. At first she was still angry at me and she was dating someone else. She kept dating him, but I kept asking her back for about 1 week. She eventually forgave me and we are engagd again. Recently I found out that she did not have sex with the other guy until the night before she took me back. I think she wanted to experience him, but I also wonder if it was a way to get back at me. She told him she would go back to me, so that night she admits they did it almost all night, three times. We have talked a lot, about how she was hurt, and I have expressed its ok to tell how she enjoyed the sex. we are back in love and my heart knows that, but I cannot stop my head from being jealous. advice?

If world peace materialized the world would be a boring place. There will be no news; no arguments, no yahoo answers R&S, everyone will just do nothing. So, war and strife is needed but surely as an individual you need some balance between war and peace because no-one wants to end up like Hitler. So how do you balance your love with your hate? It is impossible not to hate something.

You can make clothes out of it, so the cotton industry is way against it.

I ask this here, because this is where I was TRYING to post a question. For the past 2 days I have been trying to ask a couple questions. The first one was deleted before it even appeared. Of course, I reworded the heading and it went through. Now, my questions just aren't posting AT ALL. I don't think they are insulting , but obviously SOMEONE at yahoo does. Anyone else had a problem like this? Isn't it irrating to live in a country where you have freedom of speech, then come here, where you goota watch the yahoo's toes, or you're outta there?

I behaved badly towards my mom when she made me mad and bad things keep happening to me. When I was a teen, pple made fun of me all the time b/c I was flat chested, skinny and looked younger than I was. During junior year, the girls I hung out with ignored me. Most of the girls in school and out didn't like me either.

I had a horrible college experience. No guys asked me out. I met many pple but I never really hung out with anyone. The few friends I had don't call me, stop talking to me or turn against me. I can't count the times I've been ignored, ridiculed, rejected, insulted, and disrespected by others, esp. girls.

My baby's father was my first "boyfriend" but I got pregnant by him shortly after I met him. He's a total jerk & we haven't talked in 2 yrs. I still don't have a man.

Even though I graduated from college in 2005, I can't get a job and I've been on many interviews.

So am I cursed? Do you think I deserve this?

What I'm getting at is that, many Christians say atheists don't want to believe in God because they would have to change their lifestyle. I assume they mean that you would have to be a good person instead of the raging hellion that most atheists are (sarcasm). I want honest answers - what would an atheist actually have to change (beyond the whole belief system) in order to be a Christian.

I hear about Kwanzaa on TV or in what I read, but I don't know anyone who actually celebrates Kwanzaa or who doesn't think it is a joke.

Also if you really do celebrate it, here is a question. What is the difference between celebrating your race during the week of Kwanzaa or celebrating your race during (the month of February) African American Month?
