Consider the field of astronomy. Before the invention of the telescope, man actually believed that the stars could be numbered. The great Ptolemy gave the number as 1,056. Tycho Brahe cataloged 777 and Kepler counted 1,006. The astronomers of those days were certain that they could count the number of stars. Since the invention of the telescope by Galileo in 1608, we now know that the number of stars are limitless. Today, astronomers estimate that there are 100 billion stars in our galaxy with an additional 20-100 billion galaxies in the universe!

But long before the telescope was invented, the Bible had put forth the notion that the stars are countless in number. God spoke to Abraham that his descendants would be "as numerous as the stars of heaven and as the grains of sand on the seashore" (Genesis 22:17). Jeremiah 33:22 states: "The host of heaven cannot be numbered." Thousands of years later we see the confirmation of the Bible by modern astronomers.

The reasons I ask, The Church of Ireland is Anglican (Or so I believe. If i'm wrong, correct me.)

Ireland is predominantly a Catholic country, so one would say that the church of Ireland was the Catholic church.

I have no quibbles about the Church of Ireland being Anglican, as it's what it means.

I was wondering... do they say the Church of Germany, the Church of France, and so on? If not, why not?

Thanks.

First if God has no beginning and no end, why do we call Him the Alpha and the Omega?

What should our advise be to a person who is gay? I've heard many gay people say that they have prayed for God to change them, they've tried to live life as a heterosexual person, they've sought counseling and nothing has changed the way they feel. What is a person supposed to do if they have done what the Bible says to do and they still have homosexual feelings? Would God send someone to Hell if they have done everything in their power to change and if they have asked God to change them? I'm not gay but my feelings about gay people have changed a lot over the years. If someone came to me as a Christian and asked what they should do in that particular situation, I wouldn't know what to tell them. I would appreciate if some could help me understand.

Christ was tempted, in order that people who tempted the simple will stay the same. People who tempt, are less attracted by those who are tempted.

I want to Translate This Turkish song for Mustafa Sandal
To English:

Song Title : Aya benzer.

Ben dönerim etrafýnda
hiç kimse farketmez
aþk bu affetmez
ýþýklarýn sönerse
hep dönerim etrafýnda
hiç kimse farketmez
aþk bu göstermez
rüyalarýn biterse

Ýyi dinle duyarsýn sesimi uzaklardan
dinle en kuytu acýlardan
kalbinde yoruldunsa yolculuklardan
vazgeç artýk yýldýzlardan

Aya benzer yüreðim
e doðal olarak takipteyim
ah þu kaderi çözersem eðer
bekle geliyorum aþkým

Aya benzer yüreðim
e doðal olarak takipteyim
ah þu kaderi çözersem eðer
seni si geliyorum aþkým

the literal Word of God?

Many Catholics and mainline Protestants do not believe it is the literal word of God, but is rather many books expressing faith in God. (books, I might add, that show us the way to God/true peace)

Obviously, many Christians believe reading the Bible as God's Word is a requirement for being a "true" Christian.

What do you think?

Serves her right doesn't it?

without bothering to read for themselves the writings of the early Christians? The heretics, for example the Gnostics, were not Christians.

I'm not asking for Protestants to take my word for it, I'm only asking them to read the writings of the early Christians instead of assuming what they think the early Christians probably believed. I don't think that this request is unreasonable since it is extremely easy to find the writings of these early Christians on the internet.

There are many places one can find the writings, but I will give a couple of places:
