Why not? They are in my bible (the original) don't you feel like you're missing out if you are going to take it all so literally?

JIBBA JABBA the apocrypha is still in the Catholic Bibe, your anwers doesn't make sense.

Anyway, the apocrypha was written before Jesus was born to Mary and it is likely that He had read and used it... (being a Rabbi and all...)

You bring up a point full of irony...:)

Most "fundamentalist" christians today won't read those books, considering them "catholic" books that are not part of the bible and so no "holy."
Yet they fail to realize that "their bible" is a collection of books put together by catholics...who decided which books would be in the official canon of the church and which wouldn't. They chose, of course, ones which tended to justify whatever beliefs were in fashion at the time, and excluded ones that brought up some doubts or that they thought just confused some issues.
The vast majority of fundamentalists today have no idea what the history of their religion or their bible is...they live in ignorance and pretend to know all they need to know. Many fundamentalist sects actively discourage study of the history of christianity, telling their followers that it will just confuse them and lead them astray. How very sad.

the apocrypha was removed I was told, because it didnt agree with the teachings of the Cathoilic church
During the birth of Christianity, some of the Jewish apocrypha that dealt with the coming of the Messianic kingdom became popular in the rising Jewish-Christian communities. Occasionally these writings were changed, but on the whole it was found sufficient to reinterpret them as conforming to a Christian viewpoint. Christianity eventually gave birth to new apocalyptic works, some of which were derived from traditional Jewish sources
