holy crap. i cant believe how stupid some people are! 2 people posted answers stating that you meant something of a racial slur. last time i checked (today not 20 minutes ago actually, a pipline exploded in Niger killing over 200), Niger was a country in africa. your question is in no way, shape, form, or fashion insulting

I was born in the west african country Nigeria.
Not too far away is the other west african country Niger. I have also visited the country when I started studing the french language.

Citizens of that former french colony are refered to as Nigerien. Notice the spelling difference. The prononciation is different too.

Nigeria = Nigerian = N-AI-g-E-ri-A-n (prononciation, major points of difference capitalised.)
Niger = Nigerien = N-E-g-A-ri-E-n (prononciation)

The Nigerian state speaks English while the Nigerien state speaks French. Granted there is a river in Nigeria called the river niger but I think the question is about the country Niger.

Nigerien, which is different than someone from NIGERIA; which is a Nigerian. The official language in Niger is French.

Nigeria is a country. The Niger is a river. I guess that you would call them a Rivera.

By their name. Or if you want to refer to their nationality, a Nigerian.

I have a feeling you probably already know the correct answer to this, and are just hoping someone will use a bad, racist word... but I won't assume you're that pathetic.
