I recetly found out that my younger sister (in her late teens) came out as bi a few months ago, at least to her friends. I am completely fine with it, and really not all that surprised. It's just that I don't know if our parents know (she still lives at home) or if she even wanted me to know. How do I broach the subject with her?

Why did God make man out of dirt?

It seams he could have at least used Gold or Silver maybe diamonds to put a spark in our eyes. I can't believe I was made out of dirt. He could have made us out of snow. At least that would have been better than dirt wouldn't it?

Can a Buddhist fight back if in self defense?

Hello, I am a relatively new Buddhist who is still broadening himself in Buddhism and learning the many teachings of the Buddha.

Over my studied I have come across many teachings that encourage to avoid violence at all costs.

I was at the bowling alley last night, and a drunk man was starting to get rough with his girlfriend. I thought this behavior was very out of line, so I tried to step in and calm things down. Unfortunately, he had other plans. He came at me, I tried to inflict as little pain as possible to him(I study Aikido), while I could get some help in immobalizing him, but it still made me question to what limits we should abide to.

I thank anyone who shares their wisdom.

If the US is the best country on Earth then why...?

If the US is the best country on Earth then why... is it number 8 on the HDI (human development index)?

I'm NOT saying that I hate the US. I like it, that's why I live here. But I hate the attitude of SOME Americans that is "We are better than you. We are smarter, better looking, and the only free country on Earth."

America is number 8 on the Human Development Index list. That's high, but not PERFECT so why do SOME (not all) Americans insist on having that attitude.

Why is it when a believer can't come up with a reasonable explaination?

to a question it's because the non-believer can't comprehend it? Ever stop to think that many of us were believers who DID get it and that's why we're now non-believvers? Or does it make you feel better or superior to think you have some sort of glorifed insight reserved only for those with blind faith?

Do you believe GOD created LIFE>>>?

computers, satellites, nuclear weapons, etc. all come "intelligent minds" so why can't life (DNA) also come from an "intelligent designer"?
If not, then hypothetically, do you expect computers and other complex machines, to come about given enough time?
