Well if your surrounded by churches that teach that Jesus was a bad guy really or just a symbol or a cow or rock, then I wouldn't think that going to any of those churches would be edifying. I think to be a "good" christian, if there is such a thing is just to remain abiding in Christ, knowing He loves us and wants us whole and continuing to learn about Him and enriching our lives with study and prayer and helping others. Fellowship with other christians is important but not as important as our personal relationship with Him.

To be a good Christian you need to study God's word, accept Christ as your savior, and do the very best you can at living the life Christ showed us by his example.

The body of Christ is the church... not the building where Christians sometimes gather. We (Christians) are the church. It may strike you differently to realize you are a walking church. That thought can help keep many of us on the path we ought to be on.

No actually many good Christians never go to church. Adam and Eve didn't go to church, Moses didn't go to church for 80 years, 40 years in worldly Egypt, 40 years running from the Law because he killed someone, Joseph, Daniel, Abraham, Issac,Jacob, in fact the church building worshipers were the ones that became the enemies of Jesus, they trusted in their buildings and established religions so much they rejected Jesus when he came, so he had to go out in fields to preach and hills. Some Christians prefer hearing from God every day rather than a man for one hour on Sunday morning and Wednesday evening

You'll here a lot of things about this, (Especially from the Sola Fide Crowd) but the simple truth is that Jesus came to earth to do two things- Yes he redeemed us from our sins, but he also came to START A CHURCH. If you read the Bible you'll see it a lot- , particularly at the end of the Gospels.

Also, one of the commandments is 'Keep Holy the Sabbath Day' Which can mean Sunday. After all, Sabbath is Hebrew and Saturday was a reference to Saturn, the Roman goddess and wife of Jupiter.

Some people will give you a line about living under the law, but honestly these people don't have any idea what they're talking about. (The law mentioned in this reference is stuff like ritually washing your hands.)

Also remember that church is a gift, not an obligation. It helps you to get to heaven. If you aren't going to Church you will backslide, guaranteed.

You are not asking the right question. First, Christians are only good because of the righteousness of Christ. You really need to be focused on what does God want you to do. The measure of Christian success is whether he has been obedient in what God has given to him to do. Heb 10:25 says that we are not to forsake the assembly of the saints. So God wants you to be part of a fellowship, not just go to a meeting called church.

Church attendance does not a good Christian make. Following the teachings of Jesus makes one a good Christian.

Nope! There are a lot of "Christians" who go to church but aren't good Christians. Being a good Christian depends on your relationship with Jesus and how you live that in your life. Church is only one part of that.

No but it is very helpful and important to have fellowship with other believers. But going to church doesn't make you a Christian, and being a Christian doesn't mean you go to church.

No, of course not. But if you find a good church that teaches the word of God truly and is alive in Christ, it will be a wonderful thing. Many people do not go to church and miss out on the fulfillment of worshipping God with other believers. I know sometimes it's not easy to find a good church, but they are out there and it's a real pleasure to attend a good one that loves the Lord and His word.

I would think a good christian would just simply love God, trust him and dedicate their lives to him... I don't really think it matters one way or the other but church is a foundation which builds the block to your success as a christian... So church starts at home and in your heart and if you shall happen to swing by one... You'll say "this feels, just like home."
