I posted this ? on another board without much of a response. I'm posting it here because these boards are so active and I guess it could spur a religious discussion, enjoy.

This is a mySpace bulletin posted by a friend of a friend about having to change her cell phone #. I'd like your thoughts:

Why did god:
-place an angel with a flaming soward at the garden of eden to guard it rather than just get rid of it.

-destroy the earth with a flood when he could have just made all the bad folks disappear

-send his son do "die for our sins" when he could have just forgiven people himself

What's with all the theatrics?

How on earth is it possible that the best answer to ”Taken’s” question: How do you say Peace on Earth in German? was chosen to be “Paul T’s” ’Frieden auf Masse’, which is total bullshit?
’Masse’ means earth only in an electrician’s context.
The correct answer is: Friede auf Erden as mentioned by some, but they were overruled by a dumb majority of electronic translators!!!

I live in France, and here Christmas seems just like a tradition. It's only a moment when you can spend your time with family, give some Christmas presents, and decorate the Christmas tree. You don't have to be a Christian to celebrate Christmas, and noone says that you should go to church on Christmas day.
I got some impressions that Christmas, that used to be a religious event, is too commercialed now. It's all about gifts, christmas tree.
What do you think? What does Christmas mean to you?

Hmm. Well, I don't personally mean to annoy any Muslim here, but ask this question to try to better understand your beliefs so we can have greater tolerance between one another. I wanted to ask a question of my own, because I wanted to frame it in a respectful way.

At the moment, I my understanding of the Islamic faith is that it does believe that Jesus was a prophet, the human son of Joseph and Mary.

My question is regarding a word we use "Christ". According to Thayer's Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament, page 672 from the original Koine Greek manuscripts of the Bible it means "Annointed". In the Bible, it is used w/ the prophet Moses, as well as other Kings of Israel. They were annointed. Moses, was the "Christ" or "annointed" one of God, the mericful at that time.

Is this something that you would agree with? In other words, given that definition, would you be able to say that yes, in that sense, Jesus was a Christ since you already believe him to be one of the prophets?

We suddenly lost my 3-month old nephew two days ago. My family is torn. His mother (my sister) and her husband are in no position to pay for a funeral. Is there a proper way to ask for donations to the family? A friend mentioned having a basket at the wake for envelopes and such. Any suggestions?
