Ideally, mother and daughter would get along. The daughter is at an age where it might be expected she'd be trying to exercise some independence of thought and deed. Well, now she is truly independent - perhaps she went too far too fast.
The religious aspect may or may not be a key issues at stake here, but I'd bet money that the conflict goes deeper than that. However, if she feels so deeply about the rightness of her choices, the resultant hardship should be bearable for her.
I really doubt it comes down to something so simple as your question - the wearing of a scarf.
I hope the two reconcile at some point, but it will take work, care, forgiveness, and maturity on both sides.

It may not be fair but that is life---your friend needs to get a job and perhaps you and she can share digs for a while. She may have to put her degree on hold for a little while but in a year or so she will be able to apply for grants and loans on her own.

not at all. people need to accept others religions. is this in a christian country? if so, then most other religions will seem BAD to most people, but its completely not fair, and shouldnt have happend. i just hope her friend realizes this is what happens when u go for what u beleive in, and no one will care, just think u are bad. but i aplaud her for what she did. i wish more people would do what they wanted to do, and not what others want them to do...

The world is such a cruel and terrible place. She follows a faith in her heart and what she believes to be right and her parents are too arrogant to allow their child a little freedom in what she chooses to follow. May God guide her to happiness and her parents soon to pay for their atrocity.

No that's not right she is not asking her mother to convert to the religion that she believes in. Her mother should respect her decision and support her no matter what.

Sounds reasonable to me. Imagine having someone in their home that is so stupid, that they'd trust a myth rather than reality and science...

Absolutely not. May Allah remove the seal from her mothers heart. I would help if I knew where she was.

I don't know why God wants those who seek Him to endure these types of things-why is it necessary to prove sincerity? The girl's mother wants her to have obedience to her, and not to God
