...then why not come to church and find out for yourself? There are friendly Christian congregations almost everywhere!

Church is about worshipping God, not judging other people. No one is perfect; so no one is "better" than anyone else. But by God's awesome love and Jesus' resurrection, anyone can be forgiven and healed.

A church fellowship is also about building strong communities, connecting with neighbors, and making new friends. In addition to regular Saturday or Sunday worship, most churches offer extra worship services, Bible-study groups, community service, volunteer opportunities, outreach programs, coffee-and-chat groups, and other activities throughout the week.

Think church isn't for you? Remember, to gain the real treasures--peace, joy, freedom, happiness, fulfillment, and eternal life--we must go where they can be found, and seek them with persistence and patience.

Won't you join us in worship this week?

I've seen this stated many times, and though I'm an atheist, my former training as a Catholic leads me to find this idea laughable. Don't Protestants know that Catholicism was the first form of Christianity? (not just Roman Catholic, either). Almost all Protestant religions stem from offshoots of Catholicism. So...why the animosity?

Also, why do people know so little about Catholicism? I'll write "serious answers only, please", but I'm sure many will just spout of vitriol, without any research...still...TRY to be serious. This issue is troubling!

he told me that he once ****ed off in the woods, and when he came back a year later to the same spot there was a tall bean stalk. he climbed the bean stalk and met an ogre who tried to eat him. the ogre changed his mind at the last minute and said that if my grandpa married his daughter, he would set him free. This is how he met my grandma.

Do you think this is true?

Do you believe that God is sovereign, that He is the "blessed controller" of every believers life and that everything that comes into a person's life is only as God has allowed?

Please explain your answer and why you believe what you believe, using Scripture if possible.

A lot more people are saying they are Protestant. How does this compare to Christians? What are the differences between the 2.
I hear they are somewhere between the Christains and the Catholics, But what exactly does that mean?

Zoroastrians believed in "The transcendental and universal God Ahura Mazda, the one uncreated Creator and to whom all worship is directed" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zoroastrians

Furthermore "Zoroastrianism is the oldest of the revealed credal religions, and it has probably had more influence on mankind, directly or indirectly, than any other single faith... some of its leading doctrines were adopted by Judaism, Christianity and Islam". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zoroastrians

So we have a real dilemma here...was it God that gave rise to the monotheistic religions of today, or was it Zoroastrians before them!

You might say "well the same God was involved with them". That right? Then why not start the scritpures and prophets with them! Why leave those poor souls out!

Why would the God, not bother to flesh-out the specifics of his "true" religion with the Zoroastrians first, and just kinda lazily decide later that he would finally reveal the true faith to a later people?

We have all asked who created God. We ask this because in our world of time there are beginnings and there are endings. It is said that gravity can slow light and time down. So it is possible that extreme gravity would stop time or better yet time would not exist in a place of such extreme gravity. So if God dwelt in this timeless region which does not have to be a geographical place but can also be a different dimension, which would mean God is not required to have a beginning. So the name of God, I AM, would be completely appropriate if this were the case. It is also written in the bible that God is surrounded by darkness. This also seems like it could relate to a place of extreme gravity where time and light do not exist. Does this mean God may exist within a black hole? Gravity so dense that light cannot escape and time does not exist. Who would this situation benefit most? God, who is light, yet is surrounded by darkness, has no beginning or end. “I AM.” Always was and always shall be. Thoughts?

Have any of you guys have any terrifying ghost stories? i love them, and i can see ghosts myself. my freakiest encounter is the time where I saw a little dog running around my house, it followed me to school, rubbed against me, the whole bit. i have no clue what it was, still dont, but other than that, i see them marching/walking around my house, and every so often the dog visits me. I also have a shelf possesed by a friendly poltergiest.
Tell me your stories!
