You cannot have a No 1 greatest thinker, because the field is too wide. Was the person who said "What happens if I bang these rocks together" any less important to civilisation than Darwin?

you need to be more specific.
are you asking who is the greatest person who ever had a thought?
or, are you asking who was the person that had the greatest thoughts/ideas?

this is an impossible questions to answer as the possibilities are so vast.
