He is not a saint in the cannonized sense yet. In order for that to happen miracles(at least three) must be alleged to have occured through him to our Lord Jesus. in order to make sure this is true the church assigns a devils advocate(this is where that saying comes from) to investigate. Once he reports back to the Holy See then and only then can someone be cannonized as a saint. That said, the mad devoted himself to serving people, prayed constantly, forgave his assasins, did more to join the faiths of the world, and survived the Nazi`s. If you wanted a role model he is definitely by far saintly.

that is a question that the church must look into in great detail .
there is a long period of investigation that is really very scientific and is done by the church but lead by a priest that is willing to accept no for the answer much more then he would accept yes. in other words the priest demands proof. the priest may get help with test from people who are not even believers in God . there is a huge amount of effort made to insure that a mistake is not made in the decision . there are many things that must be proved in order for a person to be declared a saint .
of coarse in the end its up to God who is a saint and who isn't but here on earth proof proof proof then add a tiny touch of faith followed by more proof. then if that results in a finding that is saint then we are left with a return to greater faith .

He could well be.
But so am I. All people who have been born again into God's kingdom are saints. That's why so many of the Epistles (letters) written in the Bible are addressed , "To the saints who are in.....(city)".
The word does not mean the same in the Bible as it is often used. The Bible uses it to mean those who belong to God. People use the word to mean only certain people who have fulfilled a list of criteria which sets them above others.
By the way, we who are born again are also sinners....meaning that we are not yet perfect, nor better than others; only "better off" because of God's forgiveness.

No. Not yet. He is "saintly material" but has to be canonized a saint by a pope. There is usually a five year waiting period before the Catholic church begins a long evaluation that may lead to sainthood.

not yet officially. For the church to cannonize him (make him a saint) there is a long process including 2 post death miracles attributed to him, To date I am only aware of one involving a nun with parkinsons disease. The second will come and connonization will occur for this great man in time.

Why? He oppressed women's rights, continued denying starving people birth control, aided and abetted the pedophilia of the Catholic hierarchy. How does that make him and the old boy's club that runs the church a saint?

Whether he is officially declared one, only time will tell.
But he's definitely a saint to me.

That is a Catholic thing. No one else will recognize him as a saint. Catholics do that, in order to have another idol to pray to.
