Flying around outside of the body while asleep, sometimes far away, sometimes to places known and some places unknown???

have done this on at least one occasion as I was at a Gathering of THE PEOPLE and several gentlemen saw me leave my bunk, leave for a while and return. the Lady I was dating was ill and I wanted to make certain she was ok. but my body was still in the bunk.

Astral travel (Out of Body Experiences) are not uncommon. Surf the web and you will find thousands of references. Some people report actually being able to control their experiences and not have to be in a true sleep state. There have been reports of "teletransportation" as well where a person actually physically appears in a place far away from where they were for brief moments... I do a great deal of reading on the topic and have had some strange dreams involving me "floating" and looking down at my body as I slept.

I am not clear on your connection between being educated and astral travel, unless you are asking if anyone is educated on how to astral travel.
This is very simple to teach yourself and there are several web sites on the net that can take you through the steps to train your mind to do this. Just google astral travel and you should find what you need, or search amazon.com for books on the subject.
And you don't have to be asleep to travel the astral plane.
