I'm getting sick and tired of this claim that us poor humans know nothing and aren't capable of knowing much about the universe and its origins.

Given that we evolved to take up a niche on the African Savannah I think we are doing amazingly well both scientifically and technically (though a bit too well on the technology front maybe). In the last 200 years we have worked out one hell of a lot from our own origins to the origins of the Universe.

Who here thinks that it is actually quite amazing that we have managed to do this, isn't that something to be proud of?

Im a student in high school. There is this one teacher there that bothers me so much. He is so conceited and thinks he is God. I have never had him as a teacher.. But last year I was sitting in the library on my spare just minding my own business. I have a journal that is a schoolbook, so I was writing fairly personal things down. He came up behind me, grabbed it and started reading it out loud in front of everyone! I was SO mad.

Then on friday my friend was in his class. I was leaving in about 10 minutes and I needed to get our project information for a different class that is due on monday. I knocked on the door and asked if I could speak to Leah, and that it was really important. He wasn't in the middle of a lesson or anything so I wasn't inturrupting. He yelled "GO AWAY" and I just kept standing there not saying anything, and he got up and SLAMMED the door in my face.

Is there any way I can report him for this?

I've always been fascinated with how people live in England. Here in America, everything seems more rough-and-tumble. England seems more civilized, but kinda strange. What's life like in England? I would like to know about life in London versus life in smaller towns.

Has anyone here reached a point in the relationship where they have decided to legally commit? I know we can't marry, but do any of you have wills, power of attorney, advance directives, or other documents? I'm not sure at what point in the relationship it is appropriate to commit to that degree, but my partner and I have begun discussing it. My son is 11 years old and he's tall for his age(5'7) and looks much older than he actually is. He really wants to go trick or treating this year but I don't want people to get creeped out and think he's a grown man going from door to door trying to get some candy. My husband says it doesn't matter because he's only 11. My question is "is my son to tall to go trick or treating?" I don't want to break his heart... He really wants to be a Ninja Turtle this year.
