I'm getting sick and tired of this claim that us poor humans know nothing and aren't capable of knowing much about the universe and its origins.

Given that we evolved to take up a niche on the African Savannah I think we are doing amazingly well both scientifically and technically (though a bit too well on the technology front maybe). In the last 200 years we have worked out one hell of a lot from our own origins to the origins of the Universe.

Who here thinks that it is actually quite amazing that we have managed to do this, isn't that something to be proud of?

Not saying we've got it all right by any means, just that I am constantly amazed at what we have found out from our insignificant little spot in the universe and I'm proud of that, shame that the bible guys can't share in that...

We still manage to get pissed off at each other (on a societal level) and start wars.

We have a long way to go.

But, I generally agree with your post.

It is amazing. There's a new discovery every 10 minutes. We eventually will know everything about our universe, but it will take a while. Basically, all we have to do is figure out the mathematical formual for the universe, then we'll have most things figured out (because the universe is the ultimate mystery that we know of).

I agree that we have come a tremendous distance scientifically. And yet some people step away from the Microscope and say, "My God - how amazing." And some people step away and say, "Hmm.... must be evolution."

Why do you think two highly intelligent, well lettered people can look at the same evidence and see two different conclusions?

Is there perhaps a fine line between pride and arrogance? I think we may have crossed it. We have not yet managed to isolate ourselves from the environment, no matter what we think.

yes, we have done a lot, we are organised, managed to have a fully civilised society, done a great deal in science, logic, and what not. We even invented faith. so, humans are highly capable. leave them aside who say humans are slaves to god.

Sure. I agree. There is a lot more to discover, but we've done pretty good, so far.
