"...Envy is Ignorance; that Imitation is Suicide;" and "...truth is handsomer than the affections of love." are my personal favorites from his essay "Self-Reliance."
How about you? Any essay, what are your favorite quotes?

I mean people woud have belived in him there and then and they would have accept Jesus and his teachings, i mean wasn't that what Jesus would want to accept him and and raise People's sins, so why didn''t he use his powers to prove to people he is the Messiah at least then people would have repented their sins

Its the Govt leaders who confuse and dictate their will on people.Fundamentally all religions have the same pillars of faith (like ten commandments) but few people in charge control the minds of their population. For example I believe in all the religions for their real accomodating ideals, as living with Hindus, Muslims, and Christians for long, I have experienced true love and brotherhood, but it is the country leaders and religious heads who plants confusion amongst the peo[ple. I hope and pray that a day will come when a person or persons will be appreciated by their kind deeds and not by their faith or religion. Kind regards, Suryakant Vyas.

If I'm Roman Catholic or Christian, would tattoos offend Jesus Christ or God?
What if the tattoo is modest and in a modest place like the ankle, back of the neck, upper arm, back...?

I think that it has gotten out of hand. It is said that sex sells, and it seems to be true because pornography is everywhere. The Victorian views of sex have dissappeared, and sex sin is now common. Our society not only allows it, but supports it. Pornography is anouther problem. Modern clothes that women wear are immodest, and they are encouraged to wear immodest clothes. We need to take drastic measures to correct all of this. The temptation for sexual sin is too great in our modern world, and it seems that no one is same from it. It will be difficult to change, with bills being signed by many countries that allow prostitution, probably inspired by the feminism movement.

A survey has found that Indians and other South-Asians living in Britain are more willing to fight for the country compared with the national average. And Hindus were the most willing candidates.

According to the survey, 43 percent of Asians said that they were willing to join the British armed forces, compared with 37 percent for the general non-Asian population.

Hindus were the most willing at 56 percent, followed by 51 percent of Sikhs, while 34pc of Muslims say they would take up arms in defence of Britain, said the poll.

The ICM poll, commissioned by the BBC's Asian Network, questioned 500 Asians and a similar number of non-Asians. The survey followed the death of Lance Corporal Jabron Hashmi in July; the British Muslim killed fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan.

While they are more willing to fight, less than one percent of British armed forces consists of Asians. The poll has rekindled the debate as to why there are so few ethnic minorities in the army.

I'm a pro-choice Atheist who thinks every abortion should be legal, but I will call it like I see it, I think every abortion is wrong and immorral, scientifically I believe human life begins at conception.

I say again my position, that in America that the procedure should be legal, because I don't think Government should make these decisions,

So, this question is specific, when does Life begin, why do you feel that way.

My answer is at conception and I base this on a scientific definition. I understand there are more than one definition.

Now that I've asked the abortion question, I am prepared to read the onslaught of answers of people who will disagree with me.

This is my sister-in-law. I don't want to "turn her off" from Christianity, and I don't want her to believe that I think I'm better than her because I'm a Christian. But, this woman is impossible. She's mean. She lies, drinks and does drugs. Her own brothers(one of them, my husband) can't stand her, and her own mother called her a "bully." I mean, come on, she's living with a man who just got out of prison for murdering a man 12 years ago.
