So every once in awhile I go and read the Dear Margo column and came across this;
http://news.yahoo.com/s/dear_margo/20061019/en_dm/margo_howard20061019

Made me think. I am in a relationship with a Christian guy, now for 4.5 years. Who else is in a relationship with someone who has different beliefs? We avoid all religious talk like the plague cause when it is discussed, we end up fighting about it.

I have no regrets about being in a relationship with someone who has different beliefs. One of the things that that was mentioned in the article has been brought up in my relationship; they hope that I will eventually convert. I don’t see that happening. And chances are we will have to split up because of that. (THAT is a whole other story and one more “X” I have against religion – since I won’t convert then we can’t be together despite the loving each other, loyalty, being great together etc)

Anyone else out there had religion pushing its way into their relationship?

I heard on a Radio Bristol show a couple of years ago a poem making regular use of Bristolian's distinctive trailing 'L' - words that end with 'a' typically attract an extra 'L'.

(So Bristolians live in 'areals' rather than 'areas' and have a great many good 'ideals' rather than 'ideas'.)

I'd love to get hold of a copy of the poem.

According to Christian and Jewish mythology, all humanity is descended from 2 people, Adam and Eve. Jewish mythology adds an ex-wife for Adam, BEFORE Eve. Anyone know her name, or why she was kicked out of Eden and exiled away from humanity?

Its actualy a funny story. Its quite hilarious

In Scotland, Christians are made to wear these little blue hats to show they belong to the Christian cult. Should this law be banned?

There is a Bible verse that tells us not to be unequally yoked or date or marry someone who is "not of the household of the faith". Is this specifically and exclusively referring to someone who is a Born-again Christian? Can you back up your claim with some form of proof? Thanks!

In the Malay language, HIjab or headscarf is also known as "tudung". I googled and found that in Indian "dupatta" is the Indian equivalent of a headscarf. What is the Hijab called in other languages/countries?

Is it appropriate to give a gift to the baby? I heard that godparents are expected to buy the baptism, but heard from someone else that this isn't the case. I am very unfamilliar with the rituals and customs of the church. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Anyone heard about this book? Written by former Bush aide David Kuo, came out earlier this week. Here's an article http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15269146/site/newsweek/ and here's an excerpt from said article:

"The book faults Bush for failing to deliver on his promises for the faith-based program and depicts a White House that publicly embraced conservative religious leaders with "hugs and smiles" but privately mocked them as "nuts," "ridiculous" and "out of control." Kuo, who served as deputy director of the White House office on faith-based initiatives for two and a half years, also writes that Bush political director Ken Mehlman issued "marching orders" to use the faith-based initiative to rally conservative voters in battleground states."

Any opinions on this? Any thoughts?

Please help me have the right words to say to her when I go visit and talk on the phone and how I can help her. How do I prepare myself for her? Please don't say pray; I do, seriously. I need more;action I can take, something I can do for her while she is still here with us. How do I present myself? Cheerful? What if I cry and say the wrong things? How can I help her hubby, too? I am strong in the Christian faith but, don't speak well. Please help me help my dear friend. I don't care what religion you are. There is only one God and we all believe in Him in our own way. I'm Catholic. Any advice for me? I don't care what you believe. Talk to me, please.

I fed a 5 year old guinee pig rat poison. The kids didn't care about this pet nor did they take care of it. My wife hated cleaning the cage and I tired of the job. Problem is my wife figured out the pig was poisoned. I also now realize I commited a misdeameanor and caused the animal a painful death. I can't confess to her or my kids because it would break their heart. I'm sick that I did this. This is not who I am as a person. It was very, very stupid. I even thought of myself as an animal lover. Help...I can't sleep and am sick with guilt.

Did you know that according to science (go do your own studies) you cannot carbon date anything older that 40 000 years. So how do sites like "talkorigenblablabla" say they have carbon dated things to be millions of years old. See, these are the things that bothers me about evolution. I have search the internet till I got blue in my face, but have not come up with any evidence. They ALWAYS use assumptions in their reasoning and theories. So please, any scientists here that can help me with a good website or book or something (without using assumption) that can give me more correct info on evolution, from the big blang to how I got here, typing on my keyboard, wondering if evolution isnt a lie from satan
