For a Palestinian, the life of a virtual slave in his own country without justice, freedom of movement or association and policed by the people who have stolen his land and will kill on a whim, the suicide bomber is not really giving up a great deal.
For Muslims outside of this hell on earth, the answer must be in the preachings of Islamic clerics who gratify themselves by brain washing their converts into carrying out actions that serve nobody, least of all the Arab cause.

They think they are being freedom fighters and they will form a Islamic state and then an Islamic world. They believe the Islam is the true and only religion and that Christianity will go away and be completely stamped out.

It is their belief that one has to do enough good in their lives to out weigh the bad. They must earn their heavenly home. The only way they can be sure of going to heaven no matter how little good or how much bad they have done is to sacrifice their life. According to their belief that is the only way to be sure of going to heaven after death.

Idiocy in the belief that they will receive 72 virgins once they arrive in "Paradise". Unfortunately for them, they're too stupid to realize that 72 virgins isn't even mentioned in the Kuran, and that some cleric made it up.
