I believe there's a God, the name is not important, it could be GOD, or BUDDAH, or ALLAH or whatever but i have problems with recognizing the church as being important in my "relashionship" with God. For me the church is nice to look at or visit, but nothing more. I don't even want to start talking about the priests... for me they don't exist. So am I atheist? Is something wrong with me for not recognizing the church or the priests? I wonder if there are other people that share my oppinion in the world... cuz i have collegues that have the same so called "belief"...

Battles over religious symbols are raging as a Christian woman took on British Airways over her cross necklace and a Muslim teaching assistant defended her stance on wearing the veil.

this is how the quesation should have read.

This is a two-parter... two very simple questions to which I have yet to hear a good answer... (I'm agnostic)

1 - if Jesus performed so many miracles, then why isn't there a single shred of historical evidence of his life? (and don't answer 'the bible'... see next point)... as far as I'm aware there is absolutely no historical proof of his existence at all, and there ought to be, don't you think, if he was such a powerful figure?

2 - how can you believe the Bible when the gospels were edited about a thousand times and the first ones were written decades after his 'death'? The average lifespan at the time was about 30 years... (the first gospels were written in AD 70).

And a bonus question... the first ever references to Jesus being a physical person and being born to Mary are from Ignatius (a very dodgy character) at about 100-110 AD. 80 years after he 'died'. Explain?

It is ok to 'believe' in Jesus. But for goodness sake don't relate to it as truth or fact.

The people in the current job market had nothing or little to do with the transgressions of the past; yet they are made to pay by not having a level playing field...

I am a straight married mormon girl, and I am friends with a gay guy. I have no problems with that, in fact, I have soooooooooo many questions about it, but I don't want him to think that I'm nosey or that I think he's weird. He's really cool and we laugh like banshees when we hang out. My husband gets along with him too and likes the fact that my friend helps me out a lot with the kids (I was recently in a car wreck). Any thoughts?

some people believe in heaven and hell but others believe in no memory and being reborn. The heaven/hell believers is what i want to hear about, do you believe your soul is pulled out to heaven or hell or that your own heaven and hell is stored in your sub-conscience and you go to wich ever you would rather be in. or are you just one of those people that believe you go through your life over and over in your head never knowing when you have really died, or you are reborn inside a plant or animal?

If Christmas is suppose to be about Jesus Christ's birth... let's be honest... don't the majority of people follow it for selfish reasons... recieving gifts, etc... not to mention the big business the yearly holiday brings to companies? Why do so many follow the holiday when they're not even religious people to begin with?

Sometimes when people face hardship or a death in the family or some natural disaster strikes, they'll be told that God is a mystery and nobody can know why such things happen.

But when you go to church you learn that God *does* have a plan for us - armageddon. Right?
