The two issues are different , the cross contravened regulations on the wearing of jewelry with uniform. The veil was a practical matter, she was only asked to remove it in the classroom while working with young children, as it was impeding communication with the children, She was not prevented from wearing it in other areas of the school, Neither of these were religious issues.

A cross is a symbol of faith. It can be worn by men and women. Christians have a duty (although some ignore it) just as in Islam, to spread the word. ie tell people about God and wearing a symbol tells other people that you are a christian.
A veil is worn by women to DELIBERATELY HIDE the face from the eyes of men other than the woman's husband. The fact that it advertises the persons religion is incidental. That's fine but non-muslims can find this strange and threatening as we are used to looking at someone's face when we talk to them.
I think wearing a veil would not be appropriate when teaching children and might scare them.
It is interesting that the woman in question did not wear a veil when she was interviewed; I wonder why?

every body should have the freedom to represent his faith, politics at any time any where.
The Muslim teacher in question is back to work after agreeing with the school to leave the veil in the presence of a male colleague.
As for the Airlines employee, it appeared that representation or jewelry of any sort were never allowed for many years, same as nurses , doctors in hospitals.
The incident was made up by the employee to stir up a bit of publicity.
I worked for a college whose the male personnel director insisted on wearing the huge cross over his shirt covering almost all his chest.
Any Muslim either a staff member or a student always had a hard time at this college including myself being non christian.

Your qustion is not clear. The fact is that non christians working for BA and other companies are allowed to avoid company uniform rules because evryone is sh-- scared of upsetting the PC brigade.
A small cross on a chain is a sign of someone's christian belief and IT IS NOT JEWELLERY. This is a christian country so it should be encouraged. Unless an item of religious significance is potentially dangerous or makes things difficult for others, it should be allowed.
Its about time the PC brigade was destroyed as they cost a fortune in salaries and are creating their own empires to perpetuate their cruddy tactics.

It,s going completly OTT, people have been wearing symbols of their religion since time began, this recent event is hard to believe. It will cause nothing but big problems for everyone concerned. Do i see a future when everyone will wear the same clothing a modern version of Mao Ze Dang.s china. I hope not.

wearing a veil is not part of the Muslim religion it is in fact a personal choice the head scarf is the only part that is compulsory so stick that up their smelly ar ses and wearing a cross hardly disguises the wearer does it now

Your question is a bit confusing. But I'd say the only difference is that Muslim women have to wear their veil or they are going against their religion.

yes. Freedom for all when it comes to religion as long as yours does not encroach on mine. Freedom to woship in peace. How does my veil offend you? How does my cross around my neck offend you? (unless someone is burning a cross in someones front lawn) we may not like it but burning a cross in the woods while white men in dunce caps dance around the fire is freedom to worship and freedom of expression. I love America.

The thing is that this is a christian country. With the lady wearing the cross you can
at least see her face when you talk to her, better than talking to a blanket with a pair of eyes peering at you.

both examples are the same. everyone should be tolerant of others ways and means. its definitely going too far. there was no issue about crosses and veils a year ago. why now?
