I remember when I was little going to church and the choir used to always sing a song that went "What you gonna do when the worlds on fire..where you gonna run...where you gonna hide? Rain down fire its gonna rain.." Anyway that song used to give me nightmares. As a kid I had dreams about that song and also dreams about being chased by the Devil. I guess my question is for those who have children and even those who dont, how old were your children when you talked to them about God and what all did you say? Those who dont have any children what age is best to start talking to your kids about God?? I think every kid should go to church and learn about God but I think there are some things kids shouldnt hear until they get older.

What are they specifically and why do you believe in them?

I have two:
1. I always touch wood to bring about luck in a future event and to protect me from harm if I fear something. I started doing it in my high school days and have kept doing it because I believe it has worked for me.
2. I always leave a tiny amount of food on my dinner plate. I never completely finish a plate of food. I don't know why I do this or what's behind it psychologically, but I've done it as long as I can remember and it just feels right.

My mother is from Irish descent and has a number of very humourous superstitions, for example:
- Never place new shoes on a table.
- Never cross knives.
- Never open an umbrella indoors.
- Always get out of the same side of the bed each morning.
- Never walk under a ladder.

im kinda thinkin the bright side. not sure tho...if the sun got in ur eyes and blinded u...and then the dark side has no sun...if u had a flashlight and a huge pack of batteries to last a lifetime...u would never go blind...unless the flashlight blinded u...u could just eat a lot of vegetables and become a supernatural person who sees through darkness...hmm...

First tell us what the false assumption is.
Then take a guess at why they think that about you.

Some of my favorites:
"Liberals do drugs"
"Gays want to have sex all the time"
"White folks don't understand black folks"
"Women who have kids are poor."
"Men who have kids are rich."
"Chinese people are adopted."

Become Catholic? I used to be when I was younger, I was baptized and everything. Then my parents decided to become portestant. Since I'm turning 17, my dad says I can choose between being Catholic and staying Protestant. I really like my current church, but I went to a Mass last weekend I and I enjoyed that too. The thing is, if I went back to Catholic church, I'd have to take Catechism, since I didn't finish it. What should I do?

Come on - there's a reason that we make fun of: whites being poor dancers, blacks liking watermelon, Jews being good with money, 30 hispanics living in a 2 bedroom apartment, Asians being good at math, etc. Don't you think we all need to just laugh and lighten up?

What made me ask this is a guy on her said this about women.

"Hopefully a woman won't be made President. Their emotions are too sporatic."

I haven't noticed such moods in older women.

The Myan calendar ends on 2012 or very nearly thereabout. The Myans were the most accurate time-keepers in the known world as far as calendars are concerned. So why does it stop abruptly on 2012 (by Gregorian calendar standards)? I need opinions....I know what I think is going to happen, but I want input from total strangers. If you're an occult schollar, even better.

Muslims, memorize and recite the entire Quran for hours. Does'nt this prove something? Tell me, is their any other religion which has this Godly Power?

There is a verse in the Quran [4:24] that prohibites Muslims from having sex with married women unless those enslaved during wars. I was a little surprised when I read that verse and therefore I consulted reputable Quran interpretations (Ibn Katheer, Tabari, ...etc) and I found all of them confirm the same meaning of the verse and that the verse was revealed to prophet Muhammed during a battle when his army enslaved some married women.

Does anyone has a better understanding for the above verse? I can not believe that god allow anyone to rape a married woman, even in wars.

I mean fundamental differences.

I'm Muslim, and I used to be Christian, but I know very little about Judaism. Someone please tell me where we agree and where we disagree.

Thanks. : )
