I know that there are many middle-class and affluent religious people, but why is it that such a high percentage of poor people so religious? You go in their houses, it's catholic toys everywhere. They refuse to eat their stale bread and canned beans until the whole family holds hands and pray. ((I'm not trying to generalize, it's just a general pattern I've seen with my friends who struggled with poverty)). It's ridiculous. Why would they believe in a god? It doesn't seem like "god"'s really helping them out much. Shouldn't poor people be more realistic and practical (not letting religion restrain them from doing what they have to do to get by, provided that it's legal)? **I KNOW THAT MOST POOR PEOPLE WORK HARD**, but some would rather sit on their busted sofa, praying with a bead necklace in their hands and wait for their welfare check.

I have lived in kansas and colorado. Is White Caslte not in either of these states? Where the hell is one located? I have never seen one.

One of my favorite authors says that as we look back on our lives we can put frames around the things that brought joy and gladness. These are windows to our soul, showing us something about who we are and what we will be doing with our life; where our life is calling us.
My "window" came in 3rd grade. My teacher, Miss Kennedy, would sit on the bench and read aloud during part of recess for any who cared to listen. I used to snuggle up right next to her. She was nurturing and kind. I can still see her face and hear her voice. She read "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." I was captivated and my love for good stories was born. I became a teacher and my favorite activity has always been sharing good books with my students.
What about you? Can you look back and see any windows? When did you know what you wanted to do?

If your God(s) is/are so nice then why is there disabled people? If they're so nice why would they do that to someone? Why is there starving people all over the world? Why is there wars and disease? And why in the religious books does it say things like gays and adulterers will be put to death? And if you don't believe in that certain religion you will go to hell or whatever?

I'm not trying to have a go at you religious folk. I respect your beliefs and I'm just interested in your opinions.

I'll ask this question as if I do believe in God. I've always been told by Chrisitans that God has a plan for everbody. I've been told God has planned every birth and every death in his great plan. Is this true? I'll give a follow up a question later after I see some answers here.

I was born with paper skin and glass bones.
Every night I lie awake in agony until my heart attacks put me to sleep.
All my friends hate me and I have no soul.
I am 4'11 and 876 lbs.
(Which by the way I enjoy fiddling in-between the sweaty crevices of my lard.)
Anyway... I was wondering if it would be possible for anyone to give me advice on how to handle all of the other guys making fun of me. It hurts deep down in my clogged heart ventricles.

Pro lifers pray to God to end abortion. God is the father of the abortion. God aborts every day in the form of miscarriage. God as a lesson to pro lifers allows them to “save” 1000 of his abortions. Then he speaks to them:
You have stopped 1000 of my abortions. In these abortions no life would have been taken and no pain would have been suffered by the fetus. Now you have condemned these innocent fetuses to a life as unwanted children. Many will be killed, many raped, many abused. And in the end, all will die. You have saved nothing. Many of these fetuses you saved will kill other humans and the impact you have will not be just the killing of 1000 children, but it will be the killing of thousands of children.
Had you allowed me your God to continue with my abortions, I could have used the souls you ruined to further my kingdom. Of the thousand you wasted, I could have made humans to end aids, and save the planet. You have sinned by not following my lead in abortion, will you stop?

In western history, the rising and declining of atheism has been commensurate with criticisms of the Roman Catholic Church. Similarly, the R&S section is a beehive of people ready to pounce on Christian questions. Could atheism sustain itself without actively rejecting beliefs and believers?
