Because religion is purposely twisted to turn us against each other. Almost every world religion was started AFTER some person looked down on us and said, "WOW! What a mess!" and came down here and tried to explain the truth. Then, the people who were left behind started worshiping that person and not God, and then other people who have made a mess of this planet long before any of that happened, twist what was said until it is the opposite of what the original speaker had intended. Yes, I know this is oversimplified and it's much more complicated than this, but it's one part of the situation that people usually don't know of.

The purpose of religion is not to unite people, the purpose of religion is to make money.

Who ever told you the "Purpose of Religion is To Unite People" that is just silly. The purpose of Religion is to CONTROL people. That is why I don't follow a Religion. Instead I follow Jesus the Christ. And HE said he came NOT TO UNITE but to DIVIDE people.

The old adage "never discuss religion or politics" Why? perspectives, every bodies is different like their personalities. An example: In my bible study we were reading proverbs, when asked what we got out of a certain reading ,naturally there were different responses. Now try that with the multitude of religions in the world and see if some folks get riled if you say something that they will find offensive, and you may not mean to offend ,however you have . My approach is to respect others and try to be open and try walk in his steps.

Now, which religion do you want them to unite under? Christian, Judaism, Islam, Pagan, Gnostic, Buddhism... That's why they don't get along. Because everyone feels only their religion is the right one to unite people. If people could go over that egotistical part of it, we might actually get somewhere... besides in here screaming at one another.

The purpose of belonging to a conjuration of believers is support. People of like mind come to together to study Gods word and give him praise and offer petitions(prayer). Not every Group interprets the word the same. Some groups have inadequate teachers. There is nothing wrong with Gods word its the interpreters that make the problem

I think only ignorant people cant get along with other religions. I have friends of different religion and we all get along. All of us just respect each and our religious rights. We dont preach ot each other about who is right and who is wrong. We just do things like we would any normal day. Sometimes we even celebrate their religious festivals and such...all the food!

The only purpose for religion is to allow a small, powerful elite to control a population that is deliberately kept ignorant and superstitious.

they are from the many cultures and backgrounds and learn to debate and not listen. Sincere people love without having to be told too! Plead with leaders to reeducate themselves before they give sermons...I rather see a sermon than hear one!! Religion 1001 Love your enemy
