I am a materialist. I find that people automatically assume that I place all of my love into the objects that I own which is not at all true. My love goes to my family.. Materialism seems to spur a frenzy amongst a lot of people, can you explain why this is so?

I've been talking to a friend who volunteers at a home for the aged. The facilities are poor, because the people who live there have little money. She talked of how unloved and forgotten these people feel, so few of them having family members (or family who visit) and how hard it is for them waiting to die alone and unloved.

I suggested that it might help if these facilities could be hooked up to the internet, the aged taught how to connect to places like Y!A, or newsgroups and other forums where they could talk with people, share their stories, laugh at jokes, be cherished and valued again.

As she is christian, I suggested her church might be able to donate the funds needed for a computer and the internet connection, offer volunteers to help the aged learn how to access these discussion groups and for those who can't type, perhaps they (or others living in the facility) could type for them...

Will those of you who do charity work consider this? I think it would help the aged.

The ones who have been caught and sentenced to death, they cry, Cruel and Unusual punishment. What about their VICTIMS such as the Elderly, Children, and others that have been murdered in the commission of a crime who are innocent. The child molestors, murders, and perverts always say, "I had a bad childhood". Fry them all and do to them what they have done to their victims, only slower, and make it as painful as possible.

My mom works in a nursing home, and she told me of a woman there who was dying. The moments before the woman died she was screaming in agonizing pain, she said she was on fire, and she had a wildly scared look on her face. There was nothing to do to help this woman. And I was wondering if God allows people to feel hell before they die to give them one last chance to turn to him?

Who will you support? The other side? I think not. It may just be time for you to accept that no matter how hard you try, how much money you raise for the purpose, and how many politicians tell you they will fight for your cause, you cannot change the fact that America is a democratic republic, not a theocricy. The GOP used to be about small government, low taxes, and states/individual rights. Not gay marriage, abortion, immigration.

Never mind my question about the lack of "Indians" in football - every UK hospital is PACKED with nurses from almost every 3rd-world nation - but you NEVER see an Anglo "Indian" girl amongst 'em...!!! I tell you - like no other nationality on earth - they pick and choose according to what they perceive as the "quality' of a job. (There are PLENTY of Anglo "Indian" doctors - but they just won't settle for (what they see as) lower grade jobs...!!! The "Indian" sub-continent is so hugely deprived, immigarants from that region refuse to take up low-grade work - (i.e., they see Cricket, Tennis and Business as "quality pursuits" but Football and Nursing as socially low-grade, down-market occupations)
They seem overwhelmingly class-conscious (after British Raj rule, no doubt...!) and consequently are terrified of poverty and only EVER back winners, or support successful teams...

I am a women and i know Islam doesn't degrade women. So many Muslim women (new and old) are happy living as Muslims so who is the media or people to tell them that they are terrorized when they perfectly happy? If you like pasta nd it doesnt harm you who am i to tell you that you don't like it and you get stomach aches by eating it?
