Hi,
U answered my question on energy in the body with such assurity that I was intrigued and have come across this question. I started to study Buddhism about 2 years ago and as Karma 118 says you will find your own path. I feel that when you are drawn to something in life then it will be a motivated one where you will know what is right for you. I was talking to a friend about books that changed your life and he asked whether I had read Siddharta by herman hesse which is a story of the buddha and I was shocked because I will never forget how this book inspired me continue. It is beautifully written. There are some good books by Jack Kornfield which are very user friendly with meditations on how to create peace, lovingkindness, forgiveness etc. Or find out if there is a monastery near you where they hold retreats, I'm sure there would be in Cornwall and you will meet a lot of amazing people there I am sure. Good luck and remember that right intention produces good karma.

Don't take this in a patronising way but have you tried looking at websites/books for children or teenagers? The language will be structured to be clear and concise. then, once you have the basics you can progress onto the 'full on' stuff.
Byw, good choice. Buddhism is a very gentle and non confrontational religion in my experience and full of some great morals that we could all benefit to live by. Good luck. x x

I researched Buddism in 2001 for college. I wrote a paper for World Religions. It summarizes all the main beliefs of Buddhism. I closed the paper with my own view in a single paragraph.
Here's my paper: http://www.geocities.com/dexlox/bud.html

(hinduism, christianity, judaism, sikhism, islam and buddhism) - i learnt so much. good luck..

3 bits of suggested reading -
The Kalama Sutta - its quite short and possibly one of my favourite bits of ancient writing.
The Buddhist Vision (Alex Kennedy/Dharmachari Subhuti) - An awesome book, I read it while I was in the himalayas, and although complicated at times, it was a life changing read.
A Simple Path (The Dalai Lama) - Another good book, this one more easily readable but less in depth

Yes,it does at first & it seems scary letting go of ego.
Also I was disappointed when I went to buddhist forums to see them arguing over split hairs and diff paths.
It really did help me and its a great way to cope with impermanent crap.
Good luck and try not to copy anybody.
You WILL find your own way & path :)

Where do you live?
Most cities and college campuses have a Buddhist cultural center, and classes for learning.
