why didn't World War 2 stop before the holocaust alone killed 12,000,000 people? Was god on vacation...Or did the jews being gassed not worship the 'right' god so he ignored their prayers...

Why should I pray to a guy who could have stopped the suffereing of millions of people but just 'didn't want to.'...I think the spider-man quote could really help god out.

'With great power, comes great responsibility.'

Those are people lives, just as it could have been your family members or you being forced to dig a hole then getting a bullet in your back...not numbers in a history book.

1.Yes prayer works!I wouldnt be alive if someone, or actually some people hadnt prayed for. Without going ito to much detail, When I was 2 (2 or 3) I got very sick and fell into a coma; the doctors and nurses told my parent I didnt I a good chance of pulling out of it. They said it more likely that I would die or be a vegatable at best. Well my parents prayed for me and got some other friends and church two pray for me; and today I'm living proof that prayer does work and have effect.

2.God (Jesus Christ) never takes vacation and is available 24/7. But yes the Jews at the time might not of prayed enough or might not have prayed at all.God does have requirement before He will answer a prayer (Faith, prayer, and in some cases patience).

When we think of "unanswered" prayer, it may be that we do not understand the way in which God responds to our requests. He may not grant an immediate answer, and sometimes our prayers are answered in a way that we fail to recognize. We pray for prosperity, and sometimes financial stress is given. But our souls are made stronger for the test. We pray for health, and affliction is given, and we are better able to sympathize with those in affliction. God makes no mistakes, though at times we may question His wisdom. Read 2 Peter 3:9.

Our motive for making a request to God must be pure. If your prayer is self-centered, concerned with the gratification of your own desires, God cannot, in faithfulness, grant your requests. James 4:3 says, "When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures."

Perhaps you are praying for a person close to you, and you have not seen any changes. God can work through your prayers to soften a heart or to bring about circumstances to draw those for whom you are praying closer to Him. However, God has given man a free will. If your prayers are not always answered as you expect, it is not because God is not working in the situation. It may be that the person for whom you are praying has not yet responded to God's call. You must not permit yourself to give in to despair. You should, however, continue in prayer, knowing that the Lord is more concerned for them than you are and that it is His will to help them; read 1 Timothy 2:4, 2 Peter 3:9, and 1 John 5:14-15.

So often we are inclined to think that the only answer God can give our prayers is "yes." We need to remember that "no" is an answer also. "No" is certainly an answer of love on the part of our Heavenly Father when we ask Him for things which are not really for our good or for His glory. God does not always give us what we want; He gives us what we need. Just as a good parent does not grant all the requests of his child, God does not answer every request in the way we desire. Consider these things as you continue to take your needs to the Lord in prayer.

You got it right my man, here's my 2 cents:

Imagine that I, a doctor, am sitting in a rocking chair next to an exposed wire and watch a 6 year old kid walk up to the wire and just sit and watch as the kid sticks it in his mouth and half of his face melts. Then the parents run up to their child and try to make him comfortable. Then they look over to me, ask me to help, and I continue to rock in my chair. They get 200 friends to implore me to help, so I stand up from my chair. I operate on the kid and he is all better. Am I a benevolent being? or a megalomaniac?

If you truely understood the concept of eternal life, you would be willing to be tortured with the most gruesome things man or demons could devise for hours and hours before you died and still remain happy.

God asks us to be "faithful unto death, and i will give thee a crown of life"

God bless!!

Here's an idea, maybe Humanity had to go through the lesson to learn what was exceptable to Humanity in general and what was not. Sometimes the answer is no.

prayer in essence is a choice for worship or meditation and does not guarantee desired results

Because praying doesn't work. That's because there's nobody on the other end to answer the prayers.
