quoting the Bible or answering questions isnt the same as Making someone change. Only God can convert people.
Hell means grave in greek

Threats never work and those that use them, Christian or not, are wrong. As a Christian, we are to spread the Gospel, the Good News of Christ. This is just information about Jesus Christ and what He has done for everyone.

Does this mean we don't mention Hell? No. Jesus, Himself, mentioned Hell more than Heaven. However it should be mentioned in the context of explaining the way to salvation. I don't agree with just yelling "You're all going to Hell if you don't believe!!!" That does nothing but negatively impacts everyone.

The "people" who you refer to have a tough time separating what they feel is true for themselves from what is obvious to everyone else. It is a problem that everyone seems to suffer from, not just "religious" persons.

The Militant Atheist Materialist for example starts out practically every thought process with the assumption that the Universe is completely accidental and without purpose. Not only is there absolutely NO scientific proof for such an absurd assumption, but modern science actually postulates HUGE odds against this possibility. Yet this false idea colors every single thought, conclusion, belief, motivation and action of the militant Atheist.

Instead of trying to simply cram our own beliefs down the throat of another, we should instead work with what we can all agree upon. Instead of saying to a promiscuous teenager: "God will strike you down if you have a child out of wedlock!" We should instead show her the statistics that a child raised in a one parent family has a 300% greater chance of ending up in prison, a 500% greater chance of ending up on illegal drugs, show her the stats of how few un-wed mothers ever get a chance to finish their educations and so on.

The "God" arguement is subjective. the other is objective, she could go and check out the statistics for herself. That way if the person sees for themself, their decision will be far more effective in the long run.

Simply trying to convince others by invoking one's personal God, is rather the "lazy way" of helping another.

It is especially good when they internalize the assumed cause of their failure to being ideal like your set up demands. If they pray and get no result, it is their fault for not praying enough. If they don't get rich or lose ten pounds, it is because they lack faith. If they get run over by a car it is because they are sinners for being on the road. When the process of self blame is installed correctly they will be willing to do anything totally at your command including murder and even suicide.
It feels great, wealth and power. Who cares about child hood abuse? Abuse them in the here and now. Pass they collection plate again buddy, I want a new car.

I don't think hell is a defense mechanism as much as I feel it is a threat to keep behavior in line. The ones who keep saying to you "You're going to hell" are just parroting rhetoric they have heard from their minister/pastor/priest. It is the clergy that use it as a threat and it does seem to work on the followers.

childhood abuse is way out of that question ,its a crime you cannot put it together, harming a child is not for childs soul restoration for that child to become a heavenly material its a distruction of childs future well being,if a parent is abusing kids and using hell as means consequences, then those parents are unfit mentally disturb and coward of a parent they are no beter than Osama ben laden, children are not robots they will make mistakes and by abusing while making silly mistake is not a confidence builder instead it distroys there inner self

if someone has a deep psychological problem like that, you can't simply quote something from the bible or a book on psychology, the person must be ready for change.

How will you feel? Impotent and worthless, but you are not a magician or sorceror, you are only helping the person to get well, the person must agree to change themselves, you only guide them, don't push it

For preachers and ministers in the old days, like King arther old days, that method would work. But today we are much much much farther from God and a different approach is needed to reach people today

"Hello? Get out of the house! Now! There's a plane coming and it's bound to hit you!"
"No, I can't prove it you idiot but there's no time to argue! Run for your lives!"

So how would it hurt if you changed for the better and if there really was no danger after all?

The same way Atheists feel when they push their beliefs on everyone and try to convert everyone to beliefs that they can't prove.

If Atheists are right then we have nothing to worry about... but if Christians are right then Atheists are screwed. I think I'll take my chances with Christianity
