Bible Sales

A minister concluded that his church was getting into serious
financial troubles.

While checking the church storeroom, he discovered several cartons of
new bibles that had never been opened and distributed. So at his
Sunday sermon he asked for three volunteers from the congregation who
would be willing to sell the bibles door-to-door for $10 each to raise
the desperately needed money for the church.

Peter, Paul and Louie all raised their hands to volunteer for the
task. The minister knew that Peter and Paul earned their living as
salesmen and were likely capable of selling some bibles but he had
serious doubts about Louie. Louie was just a little local farmer, who
had always tended to keep to himself because he was embarrassed by his
speech impediment. Poor little Louis stuttered very badly. But, not
wanting to discourage poor Louis, the minister decided to let him try
anyway.

He sent the three of them away with the back seat of their cars
stacked with bibles and asked them to meet with him and report the
results of their door-to-door selling efforts the following Sunday.

Anxious to find out how successful they were, the minister immediately
asked Peter, "Well, Peter, how did you make out selling our bibles
last week?"

Proudly handing the reverend an envelope, Peter replied, "using my
sales prowess, I was able to sell 20 bibles, and here's the $200 I
collected on behalf of the church."

"Fine job, Peter!" The minister said, vigorously shaking his hand.
"You are indeed a fine salesman and the Church is indebted to you."
Turning to Paul, he asked "And Paul, how many bibles did you manage to
sell for the church last week?"

Paul, smiling and sticking out his chest, confidently replied, "I am a
professional salesman and was happy to give the church the benefit of
my sales expertise. Last week I sold 28 bibles on behalf of the
church, and here's $280 I collected."

The minister responded, "That's absolutely splendid, Paul. You are
truly a professional salesman and the church is also indebted to you."

Apprehensively, the minister turned to little Louie and said, "And
Louie, did you manage to sell any bibles last week?"

Louie silently offered the minister a large envelope. The reverend
opened it and counted the contents. "What is this?" the minister
exclaimed. "Louie, there's $3200 in here! Are you suggesting that you
sold 320 bibles for the church, door to door, in just one week?

Louie just nodded.

That's impossible!" both Peter and Paul said in unison. "We are
professional salesmen, yet you claim to have sold 10 times as many
bibles as we could."

"Yes, this does seem unlikely," the minister agreed. "I think you'd
better explain how you managed to accomplish this, Louie."

Louie shrugged "I-I-I- re-re-really do-do-don't kn-kn-know f-f-f-for
sh-sh-sh-sure," he stammered.

Impatiently, Peter interrupted. "For crying out loud, Louie, just tell
us what you said to them when they answered the door!"

"A-a-a-all I-I-I s-s-said wa-wa-was," Louis replied, "W-w-w-w-would

I am a lesbian and even though I'm only 22 and it will be some years before I get married, I'm scared of the time when I get married to a woman and have kids. I keep asking myself what if she changes her mind. It's like the L word, Bette and Tina are in a commited relationship with a baby, then Tina decides she wants a man. Even though it's only tv, it could happen in real life. To make matters worse, today a co-worker was talking her friend who up until about a month ago was the biggest lesbian you could ever meet. She had never been with a man and never wanted to, but she met a man and even though she don't know if she can have sex with him, she wants a relationship with him. That's scary that a life long lesbian could just up and change like that. She still dates women and loves them, but may want a man now. Do any other lesbians (or gay men) fear that this may happen to them?

I live close to D.C.,not far from the Pentagon and a plane JUST flew an unusual route, rt over my house. It sounded VERY near. I stopped everything as it got louder and louder...wondering if it would crash or go on it's merry way. I remember right after that tragic day, the first time I heard a plane overhead, I ran outside and prayed it was one of ours.
What about YOU?

I'm wondering how many Gay people if given the opportunity to be straight would do it? I'm NOT talking about counseling classes. I'm talking about if there was some way that would permanently change you from a gay person into a straight person, would you do it? Going from homosexual to heterosexual, is this something you would want to do?

A friend of mine told me that in her religion they aren't allowed to read certain books such as Fawn Brodie's "No Man Knows My History" - the story about Joseph Smith; or "The Mormon Murders" - the story about how the LDS church bought up forged documents to conceal them because they would challenge the way the religion was fabricated by Mr. Smith.

Didn't someone famous say "First they burn books; then they burn people".

Why is the religion afraid of letting its followers experience divergence of thought?

dont think for yourself, let the koran do the thinking was the norm.

when will the human race learn to think for themselves instead of making religious books and gods do the thinking for them?

sin no more (Jhn 5.14 & 8.11)

No ifs, ands, buts or bs, just yes or no.

How to score:

Score 1 for each yes answer

0-1 You will endure a lifetime of eternal guilt and bad karma. No eternal life you you I'm afraid, as the bible says faith alone is insufficient.
2 congratulations, you have joined the ranks of non-sinners, and are free from eternal guilt. As an added bonus, you may be eligible for eternal life in the unlikely event there is such a thing.

Rom 4:8 Blessed [is] the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.
Rom 6:12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

This happens all the time, at church, at the bank, at the store, at the movies. These are married men that I know from church. But when I see them in the community, they start making all kinds of suggestive comments and some are even bold enough to ask me out on a date.

I've dated a few of them before I knew about them being married. Then I was embarassed to see this one guy sitting a church with his wife and kids.

Besides, I'm more physically attracted to Muslim men than to Christians.
