Many African-Americans are Christian, especially Baptist and Methodist. There is also a large population of African Americans who are Muslim.

Lizardmama is correct. Most African Americans are Christians, a majority of them being Protestant. Islam has made some great leaps in the African American world though. It is boosted by the prominence of Islam in Africa, and the "Nation of Islam" movement that, while not truly Islamic, introduced many American to Islam. The "Nation of Islam" is unfortunatly a misinterpretation of Islam and a racsit movement. Many Blacks are Baptists and Evangelical.

Various forms of christianity, as it was forced upon them during slavery and they... clung to it for some reason. Why, I have no idea, but I aslo don't know why native americans would be christian either. HELLO christians enslaved, murdered, and oppressed your people!

EDIT
I think the thumbs down are for *you* and not your question. Proud White American? How does that not sound like a White Supremecist?

Kind of scary that you'd have to ask. Most blacks in the U.S. are Christian. You can find this out by picking up an almanac.

By the way, to the person who said that Islam is on the rise, not really. Less than 10% of Black Americans are muslim and many of them are from other countries or are the children of (voluntary) immigrants.

I'm guessing, but I would guess that the majority of black Americans are Christian. Non-Christians of any color are still not that common, and there are relatively few black Jews. A few are Muslin, but not that many. And, of course, a smattering of other religions, as well. There are usually one or two black pagans in any gathering, although never very many.

Why do you want to know?
What does it matter what religion black american's follow? Black Americans or African Amercians follow the same religions as any other race. Based on your name, it's a shame to see a white supremisist still showing their ignorance on this earth and in this country.

It seems like most of them are Christians. Often Baptists. But I don't like to generalize.
