For my friend's religion she can't do anything on sundays(only stay at her house), she can't watch R rated movies(because of her religion), She can't drink that much soda/pop either. and that's all I know about this religion. Oh wait! This might help...it starts with an M. If you know what it is I need info on it. My dad has an idea on what religion she is but he's being all antsy about it.

I am not a Christian, but I find Jesus' teachings to be powerful and full of wisdom. I see little evidence that most Christians today come anywhere near to living the life prescribed by Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount.

Most distressing is the fact tha Christian leaders and those Christians that vote for them seem to be able to justify warfare and murder on a grand scale. How do Christians expect to be taken seriously given that this is the case? Check out Wikipedia with regard to The Sermon on the Mount to see how Christians down the ages have actually altered the text to make it more palatable. If you are a Christian and (for example) you support the War in Iraq I would like to hear how you justify that stance and how that fits in with Jesus' teachings?

As i know muslims believe that GOD knows our fate, and he knows the future. So if gods know everything, this means that we don't have free will because everything is predetermined. right ?

It is a gift a grace of God, this too I know and believe. But what I am asking is do you believe you cannot lose it? Or can one throw it away? Does faith require works and love or does faith demand it? Example: I was given a gift for my birthday and it is now mine. I can keep it, throw it away or misuse it. It is up to me to care for it and use wisely. What are your beliefs and if you will your faith that brings this understanding. I am Catholic and I believe that faith requires and demands love in action. I believe that the gift can be lost or thrown away.

One is full of vague supositions and meanings that could be interpreted in a million different ways and the other was written by some nutter in the 15th century.

Why do we choose to believe one set of nonsense but not the other? Other than the fact that the Catholics burnt every book they could get their hands on over the last 1000 years so there wasn'y much else to read...

We all recharge our bodies with rest and food. We recharge our hearts with love. We recharge our minds with learning. How do YOU recharge your spirit or soul? Yes I know prayer is one important way for believers but there are other good ways to do so along with it. What do you do when life and it's problems weigh heavily? I like a nice peaceful predawn or sunset walk. Works everytime!

Why does everyone feel the need to answer questions about God by simply copying and pasting huge great tracts of the bible into their answers...it is getting very competitive amongst you lot. Most of the people that do this are just trying to impress upon others how knowledgable you are on the bible (when you are just copying and pasting - very pious, NOT!):

Surely God would have something to say about how wierd this is, you are answering out of ego and pride rather than turning the other cheek and actually caring about the questions or answers - which is not christian.

If you haven't got an opinion of your own why bother giving someone elses? Please do not to answer using bible quotes
...use your intelligence...

In the first chapter of genesis it describes how god made the world in 6 days ( days in old hebrew meant periods of time so therefore the world was created in 6 periods of time). What i want to find out is if these sequence of events correspond to the scientific thinking about what came first and after ( i.e the sequence of events to the creation of our universe according to scientific theory). Does the science match the theory. Day 6 ( the sixth period of time ) show that animals were created before humans and humans came after. This would be quite true as humans split from the "ape" family and evolved on their own to present day to be in likeness to gods spirit. Do the first 5 periods of time agree with the scientific truth like day 6 ( the sixth period of time) does? SO maybe the big bang theory would be correct as this was gods way of making the universe... And maybe the sequence of events that follow were allowed happen in their own good time until it came to our existence??

Is it like climbing a mountain? Is it a fantasy or a nightmare? Or is it a vocation that you feel called to live? If it is more than one of these how do you see it today? For me it is a calling and an adventure. I see my lifes vocation as one to love and serve God through my fellow man. If I have made even one person a bit happier then I consider today a day well spent.

If Islam is the peaceful religion that is often claimed, why is it that clerics from mainstream Islam do not come out publically to condemn the terrorists and encourage other ways of fighting injustices?

Please don't merely point the finger back as some other group...this is a serious question and the answer you give may further the cause of mutual respect and understanding or enlarge the chasm between us all.

If clerics have made public statements, please tell me where I may find these. I sincerely thank you for your answers.
