first there was light (big bang)
then billions of years later matter eventually accreted into planet earth which cooled down :
second there was water - water is the medium of chemical reactions of life - the first replicable molecules began in solution and infact all biochemical reactions occur in solution
then dry land appears - the crust underwent many evolutions of subduction and volcanic activity eventually forming the lighter continental crust
once dry land was around (and a hydrological cycle) then the first plants appeared such as algaes and lichens
then animals moved from the seas to the lands - could only do that if source of nutrition on land
then the dinosaurs (bird ancestors)
then the mammals - the whales and everything that moves which the waters brought forth abundantly.
The thing is these words were written thousands of years ago by nomadic tribesmen. Of course they are not scientifically accurate, but one has to say they correlate pretty well with what science has discovered. This is wisdom and who can say that a higher intelligence did not inspire these ancients? Many other religions talk about the earth floating on the back of a turtle or some other nonsense. I think that the abrahamic texts are not so far from the truth as we undestand it today.
My question would be how has the human mind evolved to allow it to be so intuitive - culminating in the technologically advanced era of scientific enquiry.

First you want an answer & then you don't, I am one that will say, we all are created in the image of God, rather you be chinese, American, or what, But we have to know what is created in the image of God, It is not the Body, but the SOUL, God is a SPIRIT, Now to your question about 6 periods of Creation, Genesis Chapter one explains it very clearly, that all of his creation was first in God's creative MIND. In Genesis chapter 2 we see, again God creating Man, Did God Create man 2 times, NO, in Genesis Chapter 1:26 & 27, God Created the Soul of man first, Because you have to read Gen. 2:1-10 verse 4 & 5 this is after Chapter one These are the generations of the heaven & of the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth & the heavens. Verse 5 And every plant of the field BEFORE it was in the earth, & every herb of the field before it grew.--------- Now you said that we evolved from monkey's, NO WE DID NOT, NOR DID WE EVOLVED FROM A MUDDY POND SOMEWHERE, If you think we evolved from these things, I want to ask you a question, why is there still monkey's, & why is there still muddy ponds, did those monkey's forgot to evolved, & those tap-poles forgot to evolved, Yes there is a certain type of evolvement, like a tap-pole evolves into a frog, & Maggots evolve into Flies. But not one time did Man come from a monkey, nor a tap-pole, or from a larva, like a butterfly, so this theory that man has evolved, forget it, Now onto your question about 6 periods of creation, Yes that is true, those 6 days is not 24 hours, as we know as a day, but they are 1000 years, so we have to see in the beginning God first in his mind or thought Created each thing in it's own order, but God's has not yet put anthing on this earth yet in Genesis chapter one, they was created only in his thoughts. Then we see Genesis chapter 2, God begins to put things in the earth, & in Gen. 2: 7, that is where God created the flesh of man. So everything in God's creation first was in his Creative thought, Mankind, Aninmal kigdom & Plant kingdom, then God puts his creative thought into that of a body, rather aninmal, Humans, or plant. Yes I can explain about the cave mens, But it will take too long, I will say this much, those cave mens & womens was NOT a Son of God, They did NOT have a soul. But from Adam until now, we do have a Soul. I can go on, but I won't

The Genesis event don't need to follow science nor the latter prover the former wrong. In science what we need is theory not dogma, because dogma begs for a whole army to protect its correct enunciation, while theory calls for debate.
Too bad the Bible narrative became dogma and was denied its right to be a text, a reading into the mysteries of the human destiny, a work of art (especially the Old Testament and the book of Revelation), a window into the possibility of the divine in human affairs and of humanity in heavenly affairs.

IN Genesis a day is one 24 hour day.The same as today is still a 24 hour day. IF we evolved from an ape
why do we still have apes with us today? makes me wonder what an ape Is starting to evolve into now ! IF plant life was
created one day before light they could still survive. If created
an age later it wouldn't . God is a spirit the only way we are created in his likeness is he gave us humans ( not ape decendents) a spirit that will live eternally just as he has.

Commentary on Genesis 6:6-7 When sin is so rampent amongst a people that there isn't a chance for a child to have the opportunity to be taught righteous principles, then God does something about it. In this case it was the Flood. In other instances it was war, or pestilence, or other "natural disasters". It doesn't mean that God didn't see it coming or that he made a mistake or that he regreted making us. It means that he regreted the choices they made, and that since the plan of God can not be frustrated, the only thing left to him was to save the righteous and deal with the rest. Commentary on Exodus 21 Yes, men would sell their daughters to be a slave to pay a debt. However, it was not for life, but for 6 full years. On the 7th the slave was freed (see verses 2-3). Yes, at the time it was excusable to beat a slave, but it was not excusable to take a life - unless it meets with the conditions in verse 13. I'm sure there were several instances where the conditions for verse 20 were met but it was said that verse 21 conditions were met. As you mentioned, the Lord had just given Moses the 10 Commandments. Now this was what was to be done in specific situations when those commandments were broken. They had already been given an opportunity to live the higher law, one where principles were given and the people "policed" themselves. The could not abide by the higher law, so the Lord gave commandments - but they could not abide by them either (hence, the golden calf), so He (God) had to give them rules to live by. As they had recently been freed from captivity in Egypt, they still had the mentality of an institutionalized prisoner. They needed rules (you can do this, not this), they weren't spiritually strong enough or mentally strong enough (I'm not saying they weren't mentally CAPABLE, just that they weren't used to thinking for themselves) to even have a slightly higher law - the law where God gives commands and man extrapolates what is right in particular situations based on understanding of the commands. And they certainly were not prepared enough to live the higher law of principles, wherein God sets forth principles such as Love, Faith, Obedience and man obeys the principle without having to have specific ways to adhere to them. Commentary on Matthew 5:17-20 You're right. Christ did NOT come to destroy the Law, but to fullfill it. And with His death it was so fullfilled. The rules therefore do not need to be strictly adhered to but the commands and principles are still valid and we still need to obey them (the commands and principles). Many people do not see that the Law of Moses was a series of rules that was given as a further breakdown of the 10 Commandments, and that the 10 Commandments were given as a further breakdown of Gospel Principles. What the Israelites of the time failed to see was the Messianic symbolizm that these rules had. So while there are many wonderful and needful things that we can find in the Old Testement that we still need to adhere to, because Christ fullfilled the Law of Moses there are passages within the OT that are no longer in effect and can be overlooked. Not that the higher law of Commandments or Principles can be ignored, they are still in effect. It can be difficult to understand, but through further study it can be understood.

I believe that there is evidence for most of what you said. But in Genesis God created man. Man didn't evolve from apes. Evolution is contrary to Creation.
I believe the Big Bang. Then when the time was right, God created the plants, and later the animals, and later Adam.

Well, first your scientific "truth" needs to be true, and since evolution is a shaky theory at best it's hard to use that as a premise. Secondly, the Bible has to also be true, which is an even worse premise, because Genesis says God made the first man from dirt.

Yes, genesis corresponds with scientific thinking since Darwin and most of the scientists are religious. Naturally, their line of thinking will be affected by their religion. On the other hand, why should we doubt that God can do it in 7 days? If we doubt, we are limiting the power of God. The very God we say is omnipotent. Remember, what we believe will be done for us.

I think that Science can follow God. How about the 6 non consecutive 24 hour day theory or the 6 consecutive non-24 hour day theory or the 6 non-consecutive, non-24 hour day theory??

I wouldn't use Scripture to prove or disprove Science at all....particularly Creation. If you read Chapter 2 of Genesis beginning with Verse 4, there is a contradictory story of Creation there.
These stories are not about fact, but about what two separate groups of Hebrew thinkers carried with them through the centuries. They are lessons of faith, not edicts of Science.
